  1. And the 8th place team DID beat the 9th. ANY of the teams above that ONLY needed 85 points to get into the playoffs. The Bruins only needed 85 to make the playoffs. The Swamp Cats only needed 85 to make the playoffs. Etc, etc.
  2. Guess Hodgins got the nod to move to the active roster in Crowder's spot. Wonder if that means it's likely McKenzie is/will be out of concussion protocol by Sunday. Expecting it means they expect it.
  3. QUALITY shot suppression is important. There were a bunch of games under Housley & Krueger that the Sabres outshot their opponent but got smoked and it wasn't just because Buffalo's GTing was that much worse than the backup that got the start for the visitor.
  4. THAT's what it would've taken to beat out the 8th place team. 0.518 beat the 9th place team outright. So, for 1/2 of the teams in the east last year, 0.518 didn't just get you a sniff, it got you in. Mediocre all day long was good enough because 1/2 the teams weren't even mediocre. Also, sub-0.600 hockey, not only got teams a sniff in the west, it actually got 2 teams in & 2 others had a "sniff" as well. Mediocre all day long. Hard to say the lowest playoff seeds in the east were more than mediocre as 1/2 of the Conference was downright bad.
  5. Mediocre. Middle of the pack. Meh. The 16th team to make the playoffs out of 32 is almost the definition of mediocre. (Especially when you figure oftentimes that team has the 17th or 18th best record.)
  6. Teams rarely play their NHL lineup on the road in the preseason, even after they've had their initial cut downs. Usually use that last preseason road game to figure out their bottom 6, 3rd pairing, & spares. Kokataniemi was one of the few "name" Canes that played & the goalie is their #3. (They drafted him w/ the pick they got for Skinner.) Will be interesting to see who Granato dresses on Friday. Doubt it is as close to what we see on Thursday as last night's lineup was.
  7. CBA calls for minimum of 6, max of 8.
  8. Knew somebody here already knew this stuff. 🍺
  9. So, the only 3 AL players to reach 60 are all Yanks? Out of curiosity, what is the AL record for HRs for players that don't play their home games at Yankee Stadium? (Yeah, could Google it, but figure somebody that follows baseball will already know it.)
  10. New survivor league. (Bad juju in the old one.) Let's see if we can actually get beyond 3 weeks this time. Group ID: 36203 PW: Beer2022 https://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/survival/register/joinprivategroup?gid=36203&invitation_key=61fae7b8de1cfd4e Good luck.
  11. Not that it means anything for next week, but the 3 A's tonight are Okposo, Girgensons, & Dahlin.
  12. Cozens feeling confident tonight. And now Krebs on the PK w/ Skinner. Who next, Peterka?
  13. Krebs getting a lot of PK time. And a fair amount of it w/ Hinostroza.
  14. Expecting it's Mittelstadt is ahead in the pecking order (he was the 1C in last year's opener, so we know Granato believes in him, though most nobody else around here does).
  15. All 4 lines looking good right now.
  16. Wow, is this feed ever behind.
  17. Interesting, having Quinn on the PK.
  18. Seems that way.
  19. But 28 games isn't a really small sample. It's literally 1/3 of the season. (82/3 = 27.33)
  20. Vinnie on the nice feed from Skinner. 1-0. Sheahan & Bjork can't be too happy about that. 😉
  21. Not on the Sabres website. No data on the Canes website. It is on MSG+ (at least in WNY, no data on other areas).
  22. DTv is NOT showing it on 635-1. And, for those in WNY it is blacked out on NHLN. The work around is it IS available on the MSG+ app.
