Fack. Giving up a hatty to let Bergeron hit 400. Ratfarts!
-
And Laval ties it back up. 4-4 5:40 left in the 3rd.
-
Marlies up 4-3 w/ 8 minutes & change left. Need a minor miracle now.

When not doing B's games, Brickley is actually decent. When NASA launches their next solar probe, Jack Edwards needs to be aboard.

Swap the goalies & you likely swap the score.

Yes.

Bryson Jokiharju. Figure out where to fit Fitzgerald when somebody is injured. At home, he can go w/ Bryson. On the road, have to mix & match. MHO. YMMV.

Hayden is filling in for injury. Bjork is being given opportunity to show he can be a 4th liner or not. He's already shown he can't be a 3rd liner.
-
Is Eakin injured or just scratched? Kind of surprised Bjork's been getting in so much lately.

Just because he wrote a book about how much he hated the B's, he's not a Rag. That game 7 sealed which team he's remembered for being a part of.

Sorry. Should've been more clear. Gave a thumbs up to your overall post. Was pointing out that it was for what was said other than the Kane stuff. Did NOT mean, nor mean to imply, that they should trade for Kane. 🍺

Regardless of who the starter is, they still need quality backup. Not advocating for Anderson to start and absolutely don't want UPL penciled in. Not sold on Georgiev, but absolutely still want an outside guy brought in. How does bringing Andy back block that? Edit: And if Andy is going to be, ahem, injured should UPL be ready to backup in the NHL, that actually HELPS w/ capspace as guys on IR count against the cap.

Why does one of them need to end up in Cincy? They can both co-exist in Ra-cha-cha w/ occasionally callups when warranted or necessary. And IF management believes as you do that 1 net isn't big enough for the both of them, there'll be 32 AHL teams by then & there very likely is at least 1 AHL squad that one would be an upgrade over what's currently there. ECHL isn't the only option available. Totally get being concerned about the possibility of losing him (&/or Johnson as well). But there are lot of chits in the Sabres column: Portillo is friends w/ Power. Portillo & his family are friends w/ Dahlin & Dahlin's family. The organization he'd be coming to has a really nice chemistry developing - that will be apparent when he talks to any of them. He's been in close contact w/ Sabres development staff & coaches. He has developed a relationship w/ them. And it has to be exciting to possibly have Dahlin, Samuelsson, & Power playing in front of him for at least 5 seasons & hopefully at least 8. That will earn some goalie (or goalies) some serious scratch over the years. The team can stay together a long time & there are some promising prospects already in the system that should allow the Sabres to follow the Blackhawks model of swapping out non-core pieces and replacing them w/ cheaper versions to keep the party going, should it actually start & there are NO guys younger than him or Levi on the horizon so the guy that wins the battle between the 3 will almost definitely be a core piece unlike Chicago's goalies. And, items which are more debatable but IMHO do matter as well. Adams didn't pressure him at all. Making his case but at the end of the day saying 'we want you in the organization, but understand you have legit reasons to want to stay in college & we'll support either decision' should be in the plus column as it is "treating players (people) the right way." Krueger talked of leadership - that is demonstrating leadership. And lastly- if he doesn't think he'll beat out UPL & Levi, we probably shouldn't want him. He has to expect he'll beat them out - neither is established. And if he does beat them out, then those 1st 6 items should be rather enticing. PS - agree that they should always prepare like any of these guys can be gone. Because injury or other can make that reality in a moment.

Until one of the 3 has proven he's ready for the reins or until 1 has said he wants out, keep them all & may the best goalie win. Having 3 young good goalies, should it turn out that's what the Sabres have, wouldn't be the worst thing that could happen to them.

Anybody else hoping that coddling Anderson at present ends up making him amenable to being the backup goalie next year if UPL isn't ready for full time NHL backup duty out of the gate; and for when he is ready for it and the guy Adams brings in is healthy, that he'll have some mysterious back tweak that leaves him with the team but not on the bench having that tweak stiffen up? Would really not mind having Anderson back as long as he isn't relied on for any more than a max of 25 games and ideally 15-20.

Except for Kane having a year left on his deal, so that not being an option, am likin' it.
-
Realizing there are no do overs. But how close would this team seem to be at this moment if Ullmark were still a Sabre? Could very likely have been in the 80's this year and then you're only looking at needing to find 1 more win each month on average to get to the playoffs.

Over on Scott's football board, there is always a haiku thread created when the Bills are playing the Fish. The Beantown Cubs are just as annoying as the Fish are and elicit strong revulsion from MOST of the Sabres fans. Why not have a similar tradition here? (Apologies @PerreaultForever & the couple of others of you that don't hate 'em.) So, here goes. Beat the stinkin' Broons. Marchand is a rat faced git. Win it for RJ. (Note, Broons is only 1 syllable. 😉 )

Sabres definitely. But, as usual on "tape" delay. Will be recording both. Bills aren't scheduled to pick until a little after 11PM anyway unless they trade up. Will probably follow the draft thread periodically & if the Bills are on the clock would likely switch over for the 5-10 minutes to see who they got & hear the talking heads quick take on the guy. For Friday, expect the PA announcer to say who the Bills took during stoppages in play. And have stuff to do Saturday, so if it isn't raining will have to catch up on that one as well. Nice to be at a spot where the Sabres are fun to watch & the Bills are good enough that the draft picks likely aren't all that important in the grand scheme. Easy viewing decision tonight & tomorrow. (Still want them to somehow end up w/ Davis out of GA.)

Yeah, his inability to stay healthy prior to the neck injury & the uncertainty THAT brought forward (never mind the extreme uncertainty of how the neck would hold up) made it a pretty fair trade. If he really can't get to 70-75 games per year (can't see him ever hitting 82) then Vegas definitely loses. Either way, pretty sure everybody on this side of the divide views it as a win for the Sabres. (Vegas could still feel like they've won after all is said & done, but pretty sure they have buyer's remorse right now. 😉 )

Good assumption. Their game against the Otters got moved. (Might have had a game vs the Habs originally on the schedule as well. Have to double check that one.)

Could see Okposo actually winning it. Very compelling story from nearly dying to finally, after literally years of recovering, getting his game back. Being "the" captain of a team that FINALLY SEEMS headed in the right direction is a bonus as is his being generally regarded as one of the good guys. No idea who's story will be more compelling than that. (Don't follow the entirety of the league that much any more. 11 years does something to one's spirit.) Good luck, Kyle. Hope you win it.
