They aren't going to be in a 5,000 seat arena forever. And having a name like Matthews attached to the franchise would go a long way towards making hockey in the AZ desert viable. The Kings were pretty much a joke of a franchise prior to some kid from Brantford getting traded there. 5 seasons later they were in the Finals.

Game was as close as the score indicated. Toronto put one off the pipe w/ 2.4 seconds left & the rebound went right to one of their better scorers who developed Bitch Barner disease & had it harmlessly bounce away from the net. Take care of business on Saturday & they have home field in the finals.

No, switched to the Bandits game at the intermission. (PLEASE no spoilers!)

Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding!

The puck seems to be even w/ the top of the boards, which are, at most 48" high. (The same height as the bottom of the crossbar.) Good goal. Suck it, Koharski. (Last comment NOT directed at you @PromoTheRobot.)

E-Rod!

The way it is interpreted, it's where the puck is at the point it's touched. If it is at the crossbar, then the stick doesn't make contact w/ the puck above the crossbar. Just like Koharski didn't call, it's a good goal.
-
Not a gambler myself, but think there is an item that could make a gambler some money on prop bets. Whatever Koharski says, expect the actual call to be the opposite. Haven't seen him right once yet.

Why would you WANT to fix the Loafs? They ain't broke, don't fix 'em. Well, s'pose you could figure out how to keep 'em out of the playoffs altogether. But that just seems greedy. 😉
-
Let's hope it is. But wonder what major change to the NHL will keep the Loafs out of the playoffs for good? League expands beyond 6 teams. -> Leafs Stanley Cup-less. League institutes a salary cap. -> Leafs playoff series winless. Would be cool if it was going back to home whites. Would make so much of the world right. 😉
-
Surprised nobody's mentioned the guy that scored the most famous goal in Sabre history.
-
The NHL is loathe to suspend guys for hits that would've been clean had they been anything but a giant hitting a midget. (See just about any Chara hit from the past 15 years & the resulting response.) Guessing he doesn't get supplemental discipline, but it's the NHL so it could be anything from an attaboy for a great hit to a 10 game suspension.

THIRD PAIRING?!? That's sacrilege. He'll be Power's 24 minute per game partner and will cement the Sabres D into the books as the 20's version of the 70's Habs D, the late 00's Hawks D, or the 10's Preds D. Besides, they're only "wasting" a late 1st in this scenario as they use 2 & 28 to get 2 better picks in the top 1/2 of the 1st round than they started with.
-
9, 16, AND 28 to 6, & 12. 😉 (BJs own pick is 12, not 11. Knew it was around there.) Fine, if that doesn't get you 2, toss in Ruotsalainen. Joisey's management is getting an up close look at him this week.

True. But if the Caps attempt at an empty netter in Game 4 hits the post & goes in rather than going off the outside of it & the net then Reinhart's heroics never happen. Doubt they'd've had the intestinal fortitude to come back from a 3-1 deficit. Sabres still have a good chance of picking 28. (PLEASE let Tampa win tomorrow. Something just right about them having 0 Staley Cup wins since expansion & 0 playoff series wins since the cap era began.)

Miss the "1940" chant so much.
-
Sabres should give them 9 & 16 & then trade 2 & 28 for 6 & 11 (?) from Columbus. Hello, Jiricek!

Just how big is that prostate, old man? You might want to see a urologist. Just sayin'. 😄
-
Nope. Only 4. 😉

Sabres president of hockey ops — I'm calling it (again)
Taro T replied to Stoner's topic in The Aud Club
The guy that posted here was NOT the safety for the Bills. As any of those who have met him can attest, he was built far more like a guard. 😉 -
100%. Adams has been very open in what he looks for & if one compares his words w/ his earlier selections, he hasn't been coy. One additional thing he really focuses on is the late bloomer &/or the guy that might not have had the physical tools as early as others in his draft class. There is a large value placed on those guys being forced to understand the game to be able to hang on whereas the more physically gifted guys could just impose their will w/out necessarily understanding the nuances of the game. And a guy that may have not been selected for the AAA's but came back again the next year & tried again & eventually succeeded is someone he'll look at very closely. Which gets back to the things you mentioned.
-
With the latest CBA rookie salaries are pretty well set based on position & where the guy was selected. There's only a limited # of things that are negotiable. (Somebody w/ a better working knowledge of it could add what they are.)
-
Well, if they can't blow a 3-1 series lead, the next most painful would likely be blowing a 3rd period lead in game 6 & then having Matthews biff in the neutral zone w/ Campbell letting a trickler get through w/ wonder boy Bunting slamming it home. And THEN blowing game 7 at home, again. PLEASE let that happen.

But rather than go to Baltimore on short rest, they go to face Tua trying to learn a new offense 3 weeks into the season. Schedule is about as good as it could be. No opponents coming off a bye week. The largest diferential in days off before the next game relative to their opponent in the league. The only troubling thing is a night game in January in Cincy. Dan Fouts is still trying to get the feeling back in his fingers.
