  1. Pretty sure that the background was that he was a fan of Ullmark's because Linus had played for his local team MODO. When he came stateside, he & several other Sabrespacers got to meet Ullmark courtesy of Mrs. iT after an Amerks game. Those 2 had quite a long conversation & IIRC they did end up becoming friends and hung out in Sweden some during the summers when Linus & his family headed back for the off-seasons. Maybe MODO was full of doo-doo about that last part or there's misremembering here, but doubt he'd lie about something like that.
  2. Don't forget, he was playing through injury the last 8 or so games of '19-'20 and he was in his only prolonged slump of that season. He'd been on pace for ~120 in a full year prior to that. Should he ever stay healthy for an entire season, he could be up there. But even in an "Eichel full season" of ~72 games, he could get to 100 points.
  3. No. You can open negotiations on an expiring multiyear deal during that final year of the deal (typically after July 1, this year after July 13). On a 1 year deal, you can negotiate an extension after January 1. There are no renegotiations.
  4. According to hockeydb he is. So, he'd likely either really want to get back or really want to stay the #### away.
  5. Is it he doesn't want anything to do w/ the Jets as they get close to the point of needing to rebuild or just doesn't want anything to do w/ the wonderland known as Winterpeg? Maybe a bit from column A and some of column B?
  6. Would say $6/6 yrs is the sweet spot between this having been a sustainable breakout year & it being a fluke of a perfect storm of circumstances. Would even go $7/6yrs. If he's what we hope he'll be the Sabres get another bargain deal from him and can figure out how to fit hit final contract into the mix after the cap is growing again. If it was a fluke, the contract doesn't hurt at all the 1st 2 years & then is probably only $3MM worth of bad contract the rest of the way. If that & Skinner's $2MM of overpay are their only bad deals, they're in great shape when it's time to sign all the rest of the current kids. And if it isn't an overpay, if he is what we hope he'll be, his $3MM underpay those final 4 years will offset Skinner's overpay and they're in really great shape capwise & can pay most of the young guys what they're worth.
  7. Bills longtime trainer Eddie "Abe" Abromowski passed away. Very sad news. Ridiculously nice man and family. Condolences to his family. May you RIP, Abe. You were one of the great ones.
  8. Too many men is not reviewable. (No data on whether that will be the case in '22-'23. Most rule making is reactionary and the league hates being embarrassed. No idea why they continue to do embarrassing things w/ that being the case.)
  9. Their powder IS still "dry." The Bishop move ONLY effects their ability to keep from falling under the cap floor. (An easy bar to cross is now even easier to get past.) It has negligible to no bearing on their ability to have the salaries of actual players butt up against the cap. Hodgson limits them far more than Bishop will & he only costs them a smidge under $800k of the cap.
  10. Almost positive management chose who were handed the letters this past season. Will be interesting to see if they do it again or if they allow the players a voice in that as well now that they all seem to be on the same page.
  11. What!?!? Blink-182 is seriously underrated.
  12. To the bolded, there's that, too. Personally, wouldn't want to see Olofsson in a package for Kane, but if it were one for one, would be more open to it.
  13. Gives them, assuming your presumption of them being a low salary team, the ability to make a trade in season where they have more $'s going out than coming back while still staying above the cap floor. Or, with the team now being closer to reaching the floor, with nearly no effect towards restricting their spending to the cap limit, it could allow Adams to not chase a Meszaros to reach the cap floor. Maybe both.
  14. Really doubt anybody doesn't believe GT is THE priority to upgrade. But, even though it is, many of the options aren't available until FA opens in mid-July. If he's going to be available, a trade for Kane could happen weeks before that. It doesn't make a Kane trade (should it happen) a larger priority any more than trading for Bishop's cap hit was a priority. That wasn't a priority, but it opened flexibility. This isn't the priority but might improve the team.
  15. Interesting. Guess ownership/ management wasn't impressed with the way they slept walked through the 1st period of many games down the stretch. At least they didn't leave him stranded w/ no ride to Trudeau nor Mirabel. 😉 Maurice is a good coach. Curious to see how this works out.
  16. 3-3/4" GI Joes are retro? Huh? THIS is retro. 12" 3-3/4" retro dolls are Star Wars figurines. Another thing George Lucas ruined.
  17. Has there been a Sabres captain since Perreault that wasn't traded / allowed to walk in FA? Maybe this is the Sabres way of trying to end that streak?
  18. You & she've got them. Best of luck w/ it.
  19. What, you don't believe Tuch & Kane waxing eloquently about summers in WNY during intermissions have him sold yet? 😉
  20. How's anybody supposed to realistically do that? You'll never find the Quickie Mart he's working at without a ton of luck.
  21. It's not just 1 year. It's 1 year of a player that has a NMC, so if he doesn't want to go where Chicago thinks it has a deal, Chicago doesn't have a deal. Getting back what Reinhart returned might very well be the ceiling on a deal if there are only a couple of teams he's interested in playing for. (No idea on where he'd be willing to go. There may be more, or he may only want to go "home" if he has to leave the team he's been very happy w/ for a long time but is now switching gears.)
  22. A Kane signing does not make the Sabres a high budget / cap challenging team even IF Adams makes the other signings/trades we've been discussing for months. It makes them a midrange team which would still have a lower team cap than most of the league. Doubt a trade happens, but as @dudacek, @tom webster, and others have said, if it does it isn't a case of Adams foregoing his plan nor does it mean he's somehow transmorphed into Murray.
  23. Or my client who had been in his 20's or my draftperson's mom. Just a horrible day for news today.
  24. Whatevs. It's another random guy's ranking and if it has Jiricek ####ty enough to be the guy that should be available when the Sabres are on the board, sweet. Not expecting that to happen, but would be ecstatic if it happened as it would likely set the Sabres D for 45 minutes/game for the better part of a decade. But at the end of the day, whether it's a mock or a ranking or a customized ranking based upon individual teams needs or a customized ranking based upon a super secret highly complex algorithm developed after years of painstaking research, it really means jack but is something to discuss as the calendar rolls into summer and there are pretty much no sports after this week that are "must see" events. (Can watch a fair amount of summer sports, but nothing's getting DVR'd to watch sometime later. YMMV) 🍺
