  1. Fleury or Husso are at the top of the list. [Edit: put Quick in there too.] There're been at least 10 options better than Murray discussed here. (Well, at least 9 now that DeSmith is off the market.) And, not expecting a "savior." But am expecting actual competent starting goalie. Neither Murray nor Anderson fit that bill.
  2. If WE all know that the combo of Anderson, Murray, & UPL provides comparable GTing to what they had last year, which even Adams admits wasn't good enough; WTF wouldn't Adams realize this? There's no way he'd walk into a presser announcing that trade saying he's got the GTing figured out for this year.
  3. Would've had no issues w/ Murray as 3 & Anderson 2 (or vice versa). They would still need a 1 if he came in. And believe Adams is aware of that. Had this trade happened it was about stocking the pipeline and providing insurance against Adams getting Adams'd again in search of a 1.
  4. Is the bolded the takeaway or is it make sure you get somebody competent working with the guy by year 2 at the latest to keep from ####ing it up. Maybe a bit of both. Could see Allen having developed under Gailey too, but could ANY of the other coaching staffs they've had this century have been trusted to help him reach his potential? Shudder to think what Jauron would've done to him.
  5. Sabres have historically had large bodied players that play smaller than they are (w/ notable exceptions like Gare & Peca who played way bigger than they were). They don't lack size. But could use some more guys w/ skill & speed that play big. Show us a team that doesn't need more of that.
  6. Well, that bites. Don't care about not landing Murray. Disappointed they don't get 7.
  7. Interesting. Not sure why it isn't working for the draft preview. The video you'd tried posting earlier embedded in this post. The draft preview video which was embedded in the Sabres website didn't want to embed here, probably because it seems the URL is directed to the page and not the video. https://www.nhl.com/sabres/news/2022-nhl-draft-preview-buffalo-sabres/c-334805380 Would guess you could get it to embed if you found it on YouTube. (Don't have the time to look for it there to confirm that. Sorry.)
  8. Absolutely. He's a FA right now, so he's available.
  9. Jest fans have to be loving what's going on in Cleveland. 'Cause the Browns are waaaay Jetsier than they've ever been.
  10. Don't use the hyperlink button to try to embed it (nor any of the other buttons for that matter 😉 ). Simply copy the web address of the video and then paste it into your post. (Use the regular paste option, not the paste as plain text option.) It'll show up as hypertext for a few seconds and then the video or Twitter post or whatever will embed into your post. It's very easy once you don't try to embed it as a link.
  11. You & your family have my sincere condolences. Hope you get over covid quickly.
  12. Serious questions: Why does the family necessarily get left behind if a player leaves? Are there credible examples of the current regime exacting revenge on the families of people leaving the country?
  13. Way easier to get out of Russia today than the former USSR & its satellites. Even if players and citizens are technically not allowed to leave the country in the future there are literally 1,000's of miles of border to cross directly into non-2nd world states directly from Mother Russia herself today. 35 years or so ago, unless you were sneaking into Finland or Mongolia (which had its own difficulties back then) you had to get through at least 1 additional country to be outside Moscow's sphere of influence.
  14. Detroit is the 3rd of a 4 game homestead on Halloween.
  15. If the Miller 30 Game is vs the Ducks, it's a Saturday afternoon in January affair. (January 21 specifically.)
  16. If anybody would like to go to the draft party at Southern Tier Brewing, I've got 2 extra free tickets. Send a PM if interested. Will go to 1st takers w/ a small caveat, if @Wyldnwoody44 or @rakish want to go, they have dibs as have watched the draft w/ them in the past. Supposedly the event is "sold out" so you'd need a ticket to attend. Mods, feel free to move this if necessary.
  17. That's the one. Really thought it was the mono that dropped him from top 3 and that the Sabres had a steal.
  18. No idea who owns the Sens at present, but with Melnyk's death 4 months ago can see that situation still being fluid and ridding themselves of deadweight salary to be a short term priority.
  19. The NHL & the KHL have agreements in place to not poach each other's players. Considering neither the US nor Canada are at war w/ Russia, don't see any reason to believe those agreements have been voided. So, yes, at present if they want to play professional hockey they do need to go back.
  20. What he said. Plus, now if Murray does rebound they aren't relying solely on Anderson as the backup. (Still want them to target a legit, albeit ST, starter.) See no real downside to the Sabres in that deal.
  21. Not sure why they need to tell the world that the Sabres live. Maybe they were afraid FAs thought the team passed away about the time they were on the 18 game winless streak?
  22. Except for a very limited # of players in very specific circumstances related to experience, age, or prior health, no, contracts cannot include performance bonuses. And those few bonuses that are allowed can't be structured as you suggest.
  23. Cap space over the life of a deal is real money as the 2 equalize over the life of the contract (minus proration due to the players' total slice of the pie set at 50% of HRR (minus any recapture the owners get for paying players over 50% of total HRR during the lockdowns)), but if a contract was front loaded or has a significant signing bonus as a component of the contract, then a lot of cap hit can be obtained in a trade for only a small fraction of that nominal value in actual money.
