  1. Better question, will he be a more stabilizing partner for Power than Jokiharju was or Pysyk would've been? Really want him paired with a guy that can let him try the things that will quicken his development w/out getting bit in the arse for it every time. And if Jokiharju can improve in those aspects of his game, then let the competition for 4D be on.
  2. Not sure h-e-double hockey sticks froze over today, but you can hope. 😉
  3. Well, he's no Murray ... 😉 Actually, like this given everything else that's happened in the last week. Would still like 1 more NHL quality keeper as not sure Anderson is still up to 35 or so games & have no faith in either of the Amerks to be useful should Comrie falter. But we all know that ain't happeniyeah. So, yea.
  4. True that the injury made it hard to zero in on a value for him. But this contract really doesn't do the Sabres any favors. Can't see them wanting to move him at this trade deadline and they'd better not be looking to unload anybody at the next trade deadline. Or else Mr. Adams will have "some splainin' to do" and very likely will be at the end of his leash. If the kids really are at the point that Olofsson is expendable, the time to be looking to trade him is 2 or 3 off-seasons from now. The Sabres don't have his rights at that point, so he walks for nothing except maybe a token from somebody for exclusive negotiating rights with him. And, as @Thorny points out, if he's ahead of the kids then, it'll cost them way more to keep him than it would've now.
  5. You aren't high on Olofsson, which is perfectly fine. What do you expect he'll bring back in return should the Sabres offer him this year? A 2nd? Other? They already have 3 2nd rounders in '23 and have added ~21 young players to the pipeline (not including Krebs & Levi) in the last 2 years (at least 8 of which have to be legit to be in the NHL prospects. Does a 4th 2nd rounder appreciably bring any value in February/March? (Apologies if the myriad questions seem to be attacking; that is not the intent.)
  6. Who? Any relation to the Rubik's Cube?
  7. Yes, that was already pointed out. 🍺
  8. Only problem w/ that is, THIS had better be the LAST year in a long while we are even considering the possibility of dumping guys at the deadline. They are in all likelihood going to need him at next year's playoff push so he won't be deadline expendable then. And IMHO he won't be expendable this deadline either. So, they didn't really buy much, again IMHO, w/ the 1 year of his UFA years.
  9. Bummer. Would've fit in well as a 4th liner.
  10. Day-um. No way were the Sabres offering that for a player w/ 1 year left.
  11. Aka 13 skaters. 😉 Still would be mildly surprised if they don't add 1 more F to the mix that can actually earn a top 12 role.
  12. Could be he was threatening to sign w/ his SEL team if they didn't give some assurances on what he needs to do to be playing in the NHL.
  13. Also, looks like Mittelstadt's wingers are known. And in house.
  14. Provided it'd only have at most a limited NMC would've preferred a longer deal. 5-6 years.
  15. Well, the tickets have already been punched for most of the others heading out of the station, so ...
  16. Because upthread somebody posted rumors of the Buffalo born Kane getting traded to Edmonton. Thought it was far likelier that the non-Buffalo native re-sign there. Posting that that Kane ended up in Edmonton again, was a post-script to the earlier discussion in this thread. (No idea why anybody else is discussing it here. 😉 )
  17. Expecting this'll be the year when Asplund shows whether he's ready to assume Girgensons' role moving forward, that of the 4C, or as the forechecker on a scoring line. Z has at most 1 more contract in him & tends to get injured frequently. Pretty sure his job in the near future is Asplund's to lose. And getting back to a more standard 3 years (or even 4) before bringing prospects up to the big club w/ a regular role will be a positive benefit of having a fully stocked pipeline once again. And will have people outside Buffalo noticing that the kids pretty much plug & play into holes caused by losing cap casualties &/or injuries. (Presuming the revamped scouting, analytics, & development departments all did/do their jobs well. If they haven't, then Asplund & Z will both be here for the foreseeable future.)
  18. This one goes out to you, Woody:
  19. Would rather have him in Filly. Joisey might be getting their act together and would then be more of a threat for the 2nd WC spot when the Sabres finally challenge for it.
  20. Yes. He brings something different than they will. If he reaches his ceiling it will be as a Girgensons that can actually contribute more than just forechecking in the offensive zone & is equally adept at C or W. (Aka, what we'd've hoped Z's ceiling was going to be.)
  21. Neither is being a nine time winner of a Grand Slam event and a stint as the best female tennis player in the world. Only 4 Grand Slam events per year (assuming they don't slide the Austrailian back into December in which case there could be 5) & only 1 top ranked female player at any given time.
  22. Copp going to Detroit will hurt. He'd be a great fit in Buffalo.
  23. Guess those Kane to Edmonton rumors were true. Oh, it's the one they already had last year & not the one born in Buffalo just like everyone expected? Cool.
  24. For Giroux it's probably because that's where he played junior. (Gatineau)
  25. Seems somebody needs to get a clue.
