  1. The heat index was over 100 degrees. That is just based on air temperature in the shade and humidity levels. That DOESN'T take into account the fact that having the sun beating down adds to it & being in a partially enclosed bowl added no air movement as well. There is no way it wasn't effectively 120 on the field. The Fish could at least go to the sidelines and get into the low 100's. The "cool zone" misting fans don't do a whole lot with the sun beating down & it effectively being 120. The Bills players were stuck in it all game. Fishies were cramping up as well. Because they could get out of the sun they didn't suffer the sunstroke injuries as well. So, what exactly were the trainers & the engineers supposed to do? Bring a 40' long ice tub the players could sit in while on the side lines? Anecdotally, when playing floor hockey in a 120 degree gymnasium would routinely lose 4 lbs over 90 minutes while downing 40+ oz of Gatorade and sometimes 8-10 lbs. That's routinely netting sweating out a 1/2 gallon & on rare occasion even over a gallon. How much hydrating can you do in 6 days? Not that much.
  2. There is that. There is also the fact that a lot of early season Gulf Coast SEC games are played at night and also, not many have a humidity of over 70% when it's nearly 90 out with no clouds in sight. It was a "perfect storm" of conditions essentially making it like they were playing in 120 temperatures.
  3. No. Tommy Sweeney was inactive. That was part of the O's problem with having the ball for 40+ minutes. They only dressed 5 WRs and 2 TEs so they could have 8 DBs. Once Kumerow went out, Davis who was clearly still bothered by the ankle had to play most all the snaps. After Jake went down there was only 1 spare TE - Morris & 1 spare WR - Crowder. Cook took some snaps from the slot they were so thin. You're confusing Sweeney with Tommy Doyle who is a lineman. But even there they were playing Mancz in the 4th Q and he was on the practice squad on Saturday.
  4. How often in September? They play those home games at night for a reason. Korey Stringer died in conditions less severe. Players were getting sunstroke. It wasn't just cramping up. They could easily have played this game at 4PM & the 2nd half wouldn't have had the sun making it effectively 120 on the Bills sideline AND on the field for the entire game. And, having a little tent providing shade helps a little, but there is a huge difference between that where the air just beyond your canopy literally 4 feet from you in all directions is getting beaten down by the sun and being shaded by a 140' long 40' wide covering. Guarantee it was at least 20 degrees cooler on the Fishies sideline than on the Bills side or on the field. Again, players were literally getting sunstroke. That is excessive. Your body doesn't gain much relief by sweating when it is that ridiculously hot & humid. (89 in the shade 72% humidity is a stadium with completely still air & the sun beating down on it.) People are pointing out that the Fish put an obviously concussed Tua back in the game. If the Fishies don't care about the health or safety of their own players it shouldn't be surprising that they're perfectly fine putting the visiting team into literally life threatening situations. (Again, Korey Stringer died in less severe conditions.) And even with all that, and all the mistakes and the injuries and the bad luck (and you make your own luck to large degree) if the game were 4 seconds longer the Bills very likely win that game. Fishie fans are celebrating today, and they should be, their boys won. But Cheats fans were doing so last year as well after a game the weather played a huge factor in. And they were convinced their boys were clearly better than ours and told us about it for a month. How'd it work out when their boys met ours again in more even conditions?
  5. Allen didn't lose his mind. It was the 2nd missed snap between 2 guys that rarely work as a battery. This was the exact opposite of the wind game last year. Between injuries, conditions, & bad luck they lost by less than a FG. The Bills will be fine.
  6. Forwards could be fun. D & GT is scary.
  7. Not sure about Canada, but as @LGR4GM stated, the game will be on NHLN (DTv 215DTat 2PM showing the Capitals broadcast. It will not be on MSGa1 (DTv 635-1) nor on the Sabres website nor Facebook page.
  8. Yep. For preseason. Looks like that was about 1/3 of windows price which is nuts unless the Sabres are back up to 12k or so STs (charging us STHers nearly full price for preseason gets them some legit $'s for those games but it just seems scummy charging that much when both teams will have at most 1/2 an NHL roster & the visitors won't play any of their stars (they usually put the top unit in their own home games to try to half arsed appease the home fans; wasn't all that long ago that preseason games were given to STHers for 1/2 price to 1 game & the other 2 (or so) were free). Just couldn't take more than 1/3 of the price for them because at best the game is worth 1/3 of what the Sabres took.
  9. Absolutely loved baseball (3rd favorite sport as a kid) but when they canceled the World Series just never felt the same way. Have been to 3 or 4 MLB games since & got the kids to a couple just so they could say they were there, but have never been able to feel the suspense build like pre-'94. And, without the suspense, it's basically 9 man bowling. (10 counting the DH.)
  10. Hoping you & yours made it through safely & with no property damage. Stay safe my friend.
  11. Not nearly as unpopular as the Rosen pick was. THAT one might work out OK. Feeling pretty confident that Östlund will work out.
  12. Rough break, but Johnson has looked very good at safety & Hamlin has looked serviceable. Phillips & Oliver being out hurts, but we should see Jones back & if Settle is even close to full speed the line won't be hanging the rooks & the backup(s) out for long. Expecting g Milano to bring his usual game. If Edmunds can play the way he has been it still should be the Bills pulling away from them. Just can't see the Fishies slowing down the O much less stopping it consistently.
  13. Couldn't give preseason tix away last year, so sold 'em at $20 a pop this year. Could've got more, but still feel like that was stealing money almost as bad as the Sabres making STHers pay for them in the 1st place is stealing.
  14. Of course he or his other siblings will end up running the team. But thank you for shouting it from the rooftops. Did it make you feel better? Hope so. Not sure how you're conflating saying that yours truly won't be happy if (hopefully not when but if) the owners kid starts thinking he knows more than the pros his parents hired & subsequently starts telling them what moves they should make with telling him what he can & cannot do. His being in the room isn't an issue IMHO, ymmv. If he starts doing things that are bothersome or worse IMHO, can then decide to stop giving his parents' franchise my hard earned $'s. Not sure what controversy you're trying to create, but whatever.
  15. Funny you mention they aren't consumer centric. Called 2 of them to figure out the issue. With one of them was forced to go through an automated menu which would basically have caused something detrimental to happen to my account. When it said what it was going to do started shouting 'no, no, no, no, no' & it put a person on the line. With the other one, it literally said there are only a handful of issues that allow a person to speak to a customer service representative & the issue du jour wasn't one of them; goodbye.
  16. You can call the various credit bureaus & put a freeze on your own accounts if you'd like.
  17. They do. But apparently other credit ratings bureaus aren't preturnaturally stupid (which is why the auto loan could be processed). Yep, you have to ask us how get hold of him to verify this request for a replacement credit card. No, we have no idea how you might do that. Would you like to know his phone # from 25 years ago? We do know that, obviously.
  18. Due to some past identity theft issues, have had a "freeze" put on new credit applications. Can do things like buy a car or get a new credit card but the lender/issuer needs to reach me via a particular protocol obtained from a credit rating bureau to confirm it is actually me applying for credit. Hadn't received my wife's replacement credit card for her expiring one & ordered a replacement. Didn't get it because the issuing bank couldn't reach me. Called back, tried again; same issue. Called one of the credit ratings bureaus about this. Yes, there's a freeze on the account. (Well, duh.) What contact info are you giving to the credit card company to reach me? Uh, none; we have no contact info for you. Htf does the credit ratings bureau, which knows more about where we've lived & our payment history than we know NOT have contact info? Unbelievable. Fortunately when we bought a new car recently the bank that issued that loan used a different credit bureau. One that actually was able to provide the bank a way to reach me.
  19. Pretty reasonable take @LGR4GM. Expecting your prediction for the Sabres is too optimistic, but hoping to be wrong about that. Do believe if they get in 7th is actually more likely than 8th. My guess (without having looked closely at the lineups, may change it closer to opening night). Carolina Tampa Bay Florida Toronto Rangers Columbus Pittsburgh Boston Otters Sabres Devils Capitals Red Wings Islanders Montreal Filly Would've gone w/ Swamp Cats ahead of Bolts, but expect they'll miss the losses of Huberdeau, Weegar, & the coach more than they'll gain from the new additions. Expect Columbus could surprise & not sold the the Pens aren't too long in the tooth. Have been wrong too many times about the B's imminent demise, won't expect them out until they officially are. Could easily see the Sabres & Otters flipping on being the squad just missing out especially if it takes time for Ottawa's new additions to fit in. Caps are due to slide; can see it being hard if it happens. Maybe Ovie can will them to a stronger finish. Dumping Trotz doesn't seem to be a smart move for a team that has to live on it's D & goaltending. Filly & the Habs should both be horrible. If Hart isn't horrible again, Moe-ray-all might have the 2nd best Berard odds behind Chicago. If he is, Chicago has a run for it's money.
  20. This seems correct. In '19, the game in TO was shown on Sabres.com & the 3 home games. Don't believe either of the other 2 road games were broadcast. Thought all, or all but 1, was shown there last year, but no data to confirm that.
  21. Haven't seen any announcements yet, but in years past they were broadcast on the Sabres website and the broadcast was whatever the home team put together. Few, if any, made it to ESPN+.
  22. Just got done listening to that. That was very encouraging. And hopefully he also got input from the Bills staff & medical as well because they train significantly differently than the rest of the NFL & last year they stayed very healthy. (And this year they're getting a bunch of injuries, but several of them are of the type (concussion, neck, etc.) that you can't really train away from in live action games.
  23. 4. They have to stay healthier than last year. They get the sort of injuries they did last year & even those 3 keys likely aren't enough for the 20+ extra points they need to find. Fortunately, being a very young team, the injury bug can be relatively avoidable.
  24. Interestingly Krebs is with Blue & Cozens & Mittelstadt are with Gold. Would've expected Krebs to be on 1 of their lines. Get it that Thompson is listed as a RW rather than a C, but still a top 9 of Blue could be: Skinner Thompson Tuch Quinn/Girgensons Krebs Okposo Girgensons/Quinn Kozak Bjork/Murray And a top 9 of Gold could be Asplund Mittelstadt Olofsson Peterka Cozens Hinostroza Malone Sheahan Mersch Only 12 of those 18 (19 including Bjork) will be in the lineup against the Otters on October 13. Really looking like at least initially they're looking to roll 4 lines more or less. Nice to see there actually being competition for the top 12 & the top 6 with players that actually shouldn't be out of place there. (They've had competition for most of those roles the last decade, but not by players that belong in those roles.) And only threw Kozak into that top 9 role due to lack of C's in that grouping.
