  1. Look it up yourself. You are stuck in section 50 of the CBA. The controlling section for this issue is section 13. Having too many players take ill at 1 time does not, under normal conditions, trigger section 50 issues. That is what these section 13 emergency provisions primarily deal with.
  2. AGAIN, you are confusing an emergency recall due to cap space constraints with an emergency recall due to not having at least 12-6-2 available to a team. They are NOT the same thing. The CBA is very clear on how a team can utilize emergency recalls for reasons of illness, debilitating injury, or suspensions. That article on the Canucks fan site is specifically describing how teams needing to use the "LA King salary emergency conditions" go about doing so. And pretty sure (though not positive because it's been so long since it's applied to the Sabres) those teams have to play a 1st game down a man (or however many they're down) before getting to use that exemption. Teams that AREN'T in salary cap hell can gain relief from illnesses and short term injuries all hitting at once without being forced to put the players that don't need to be on IR onto IR. They have to prove they really do have the emergency but that's a pretty low hurdle to get over.
  3. And btw, what a beeyotch it is to try to find a copy of that agreement between the NHL & CHL (even the prior one from 2013 that was renewed through '29 in '22). Apparently a copy of it was on the Oregon state website due to hearings on whether amateur athletes (CHL players) were to be treated as employees for Workman's Comp type benefits but it does not appear to still be there. Should anyone know where a copy exists, would love to see a link or even how to find a hard copy.
  4. No. Emergency recalls meaning the team has less than 12 healthy F's, 6 healthy D, and 2 healthy G on the roster and need to exceed the 23 man roster limit to dress a full roster. Am not referring to emergency rules governing having not enough cap space to allow for a full roster.
  5. Ordinary recalls are a different beast than emergency recalls. You are citing how the system works when the NHL team has a full healthy roster available to it.
  6. Wrong. A skater can be brought in from Junior upon the NHL team's 3rd "emergency recall." IIRC goalies can be recalled sooner than that. But CHL players CAN be put on the NHL team in the middle of the year on an emergency basis.
  7. They CAN recall him on an EMERGENCY basis. He can't stay up when there are healthy bodies to replace him. But if there aren't any, he's good to go.
  8. He can sign a contract at any time. He's in the CHL. They easily could give him a signing bonus if necessary to get him to do a Biron. But reading his interview and how stoked he was to get extra time in the "NHL" really doubt there'd be any issue getting him to sign. A CHL player can.
  9. No flippin' Schlitz, Sherlock. The post you replied to was responding to one stating that the SABRES would be a single injury from having Sandstrom as the backup if Reimer is waived and claimed. The Amerks in a BEST CASE would be 1 injury from having Sandstrom as the backup. (Running w/ Levi/Reimer and Houser is THEIR best case scenario.) Ratzlaff WOULD BE eligible to get a Sabres callup in an emergency basis. So, YES, he IS an option.
  10. You must be in the rink. PP just starting online. Who knew. Sandstrom CAN get a W. Against AHLers. In OT.
  11. Nearly gave Detroit a breakaway with a bad pass in their end, but the Wing couldn't control the puck fully and Sabres have it again. No real chances yet for either side through about 2-1/2 minutes. Now Detroit has the puck. Save Sandstrom. Buffalo just misses the strech pass. Sabres still have the puck.
  12. Going to OT? (The scoreboard is showing game stats and highlights of the 3rd period.) Yup. OT. Sandstrom w/ the 1st save of OT and a Sabre misses the short side. Puck back to the Sabres end but Buffalo with possession.
  13. Let's hope. A fast start to the season could be huge.
  14. Posted the goal in the wrong thread. D'oh!
  15. They still have Houser, right? And Ratzlaff could be good for a couple game emergency call up. But, yeah, Sandstrom is scary bad right now.
  16. Tullio giving a Wing the business after driving him into his own net and onto the ice prone. Looks like coincidental roughing penalties.
  17. Probably. So it is 3-2 bad guys? (Again, didn't see the 2nd and am not getting any sound (but am watching football now, so don't care that there isn't sound).)
  18. Sandstom doing Sandstrom things. 84 for Detroit brought the puck into the zone and was surrounded by 4 Sabres. Let a shot fly from near the BL that went through the wickets. It MIGHT've been tipped; but if it was it was still about 12' inside the BL with plenty of time for him to react to it. (And not positive it was deflected.)
  19. And Sabres going back to the PP as a Wing got his skate caught up w/ Prow as he tried to carry the puck out of the zone. Hopefully this goes better than the last PP.
  20. And Detroit scores again on a partial breakaway shorthanded. Didn't watch the 2nd, so no idea what the score is. Each team has scored at least twice.
  21. Probably the same thing that happened when Miller grew up and Biron was relegated back to his rightful spot as the best backup in the NHL from the late 90's to the mid 00's.
  22. After 1, Sabres up 2-1. Slaggart and Neuchev. Sandstrom (shockingly) made some real nice saves after giving up a goal on the Wings 1st shot. Would say the Sabres have been the better team so far; but Detroit has gotten a few really good looks.
  23. Yup. The guy that singlehandedly saved the Swamp Cats season that year giving Bob the chance to get them into the Finals that season. Guess the horse shoe is no longer lodged up his arse.
  24. Neuchev finishing off the goal after a nice steal by Rosen (?). 2-1 Sabres.
