:P Jokers. Fair suspicion. I'm here to tell you, having seen him play a bunch in ROC for two years, he's better than Weber at preventing the other team from scoring. Of course they aren't the same type of player. But it's interesting to see, same draft year, same team, etc, and to look at their careers to date. Weber breaks through as a stay-at-home and hangs on for dear life, but Biega, being a little undersized and without elite speed, gets his window closed by true elite talent like Pysyk or Risto and becomes career AHL. Yeah that story is probably a dime a dozen across the league, but B was a favorite while here in ROC.

Thank you Mr Boyes. And don't forget, tied with Weber for # of goals scored this year.
-
Well he's meaner/tougher than Reggie (low bar admittedly). But yeah attitude is not his game and he doesn't play that roll. That aside, defensively (break-up play, correct position, win battle and get puck out of zone), I still say he's better than Weber. Intimidate / big-hit / threat-to-fight, of course Weber wins. Flynn-esque. Very good hockey player. Doesn't sell tickets tho. Biega'sanity!
-
No for real. Biega is a very good hockey player, I'm telling ya. Not saying he warrants top 4 on an NHL team, or the Sabres shoulda kept him, but he's solid.
-
More on Biega...2006 draft, he's taken in the 5th round, Mike Weber was 2nd. Both have scored 1 goal this year. I think you could make a solid case that Biega is a much better hockey player than Weber. Factor in right place / right time (Pysyk killed any chance for Biega w/ Sabres) and the preference given to 1st and 2nd rd draft picks over 4th or 5th and it makes sense. Just saying....

Big fan of Biega. Good on him. Poor man's Sekera.

As is flying commercial. Charter that . Vets are all smh.

Moving on...AHL Skills. Nice round of boos by the Utica faithful towards Phillip Varone during introduction. TJ Brennan sighting too.

Not a big loss, we just turned it off. They are just standing around, cute passes, goal. Of course it's an exhibition, but at least freakin' skate. They are on pace to score 30 (uncontested) goals. (i looked, record is 26, 2001).

Top 2015 Goaltending Prospect - Mackenzie Blackwood
bcsaberks replied to MBHockey13's topic in The Aud Club
Doh. I noticed the goalie prospects (including Mack-daddy) are almost all lefties. That drove me to this article from a while back sorta explaining the bias in the NHL (featuring Vokoun), then somehow I got to the one in Boston about shooters. Interneting. -
Top 2015 Goaltending Prospect - Mackenzie Blackwood

Wow lefty bias is crazy. News to me, so I googled, and found this interesting article: http://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/2014/10/04/left-shots-right-shots-what-best-mix/5VIkETES9ZYy2ZFCnujexJ/story.html So Detroit only has one (or currently 2) right handed shooter on their roster. Sabres are ~50/50. -
Dammit I'm not nearly sharp enough to contribute to this thread at this point but we watch the winter classic every year and they have it dialed-in. It's a spectacle and becoming an annual celebration of the sport. The visuals from DC this year were great. The pregame was very cool, the kids and the players lining up and all that, explosions, etc. And yeah we have to mute Pierre but still, that's going on all year on NBC. I looked at tickets last minute, direct flight down from ROC to DC, hotel, 2 tickets. Way too much $ (sold out), but would be a cool tradition if loaded. Stadium series, yeah too much, but Winter Classic is awesome. Next time we get it I'm clicking "Buy" right away. (got greedy and went for better tickets in 2008 online, SORRY NONE AVAILABLE at 10:04. :wallbash: )

In other words, as the All-Star Break arrives, the Canes are dangerously close to going on the kind of winning run that would doom the franchise to another five years of mediocrity. Guaranteed doom! For 5 years! Read more here: http://www.newsobserver.com/2015/01/20/4490610_decock-canes-recent-success-merely.html?&rh=1#storylink=cpy

Grantland: 10 Facts about the 1988-89 Buffalo Sabres
bcsaberks replied to Stoner's topic in The Aud Club
Well said, but I appreciate some GoDD non-believer preaching. It's something to balance out JeremyWGR and his crew, who seem to be days away from suggesting the best parade route. -
Crazy. Was the highlight of my Twitter feed last night.

Impressive. My 12 year old looks at his ipod/youtube instead of the TV "They suck Dad, who cares". -

Possibly the worst Sabres game I've ever seen. That 6th goal was especially horrendous. The D had possession, under no pressure, complete fail. And I miss Roby after games like this. Duff/May are OK, but Roby would have brought his A game and at least entertained in the post game. This sucks. -
Man that was horrible. On the 5th goal, how in the eff were all 3 forwards lower than the D (risto / zad)? Mess. Nice to see Varone pot a couple though. From my view in ROC, he's an honest player, hard working, focused. Agreed on AHL depth tho.

Outplayed McDavid? And Eichel? Best player in the tournament? Understood he has a couple years on them, but if they are "generational"....he looked great.

Decent game tonight despite the absence of Grigorenko and Armia (dtd, foot) for the 2nd and 3rd periods. Pysyk looked great, he had a sick pass to setup their 2nd goal. Loss 3-2.

Video game style! Smashed.

From 12/18 post practice: "I've just got to play hockey," Hodgson said. "That's all I've done my whole life is just go play, and whatever happens, happens. I've got to do the best I can on the ice, and the rest of the stuff will take care of itself". Holy robo-speak. You could translate that into "this sucks, but if I play better and put up some points I can get the hell out of here". Or you could translate it into empty suit. Either way, no bueno.

Sabres trade Luke Adam to Columbus for Jerry D'Amigo
bcsaberks replied to Hoss's topic in The Aud Club
This guy has been an Amerks killer while with Toronto the past few years. -
Which makes it even more painful. Password retrieval / reset / confirm. Lazy.
