Indeed. And both he and Gionta with like 15:00 or less. More Larsson, McGinn, Foligno, & 44 please. -

I appreciate the reasoning, really do. And maybe that's part of it, he's following the game plan perfectly and being held out as an example. But stats wise, compared to peers, it looks bad though: RW only (sorted by TOI) GP, TOI/GP, Pts 1. P Kane, 25, 21:15, 38 2. Loui E, 22, 20:13, 20 3. Tarasenko, 24, 19:46, 24 4. Stone, 22, 19:39, 21 5. Stempniak, 24, 19:18, 18 6. Wheeler, 25, 19:17, 25 7. Gionta, 22, 19:04, 8 8. Kessel, 24, 19:04, 17 9. Oshie, 23, 19:03, 12 10. Neal, 23, 18:44, 18 So he's 7th in the league for RW TOI avg, and 50th in pts in that same group (RW only). (btw, O'Rielly is currently #1 fwd in league at 21:50 per game. P Kane is 2nd, E Kane is 3rd.) -

I don't know X. You're saying the litmus for a 17+ minute wing is "get the puck deep"? That's what the 4th guys call success. And Eichel carries the puck deep on that line while Gionta. We have too much talent this year for Gionta to get these minutes. And he's just not producing points. I understand Byslma giving the vets a longer leash (moulson finally yanked in last night), but it's costing us games. -

This team is good. If they miss playoffs by a few points it's on Bylsma and his dumb preference for veterans I mean Gionta. Crazy to play him in OT especially after penalty. Larsson among others must be shaking his head. Fun game to watch none the less. -

Just noticed his #s. Impressive, +14. Next best on team is +3. Surely getting protected, but impressive still. -

Funny I was just thinking of that interview from a couple years ago, maybe beyond blue & gold, where Murray asked him if he was prepared for rough stuff and the like. Of course he responded positively, but yeah I don't see it. Found it. "Slash somebody, show some emotion" ~2:00 mark -

I agree. Or Foligno. Or 44. Our easiest line to play against: 26 Matt Moulson – 15 Jack Eichel – 12 Brian Gionta -

They out shot them 8-0 and their corsi or whatever was probably record high in the 1st. They owned the puck. Just need to put it in the net. Painful. -

Eichel to wing please. Switch with Reinhart or Larsson or Legwand or whoever. -2 again. -9 for the year, only Ennis is worse. -
There was a brief moment a few years ago when Marcus broke in and Nick was like 4th line in Ottawa... But yeah I was thinking he's just support, maintain possession down low and feed eichel for snipe /drive to net. Also big body to protect /address scuffles as needed.
-
I feel like Eichel has struggled with assignments on D. Sure he breaks up plays with his stick, but when it's down low in his own end it's an adventure. For scoring, I pair Foligno with Eichel and then Kane with Reinhart. Those are my priorities. Gionta and Ennis can ride along with those lines if they want, just stay out of the way.

They've scored a total of 7 goals in the past 5 games. And with plenty of pp time. It's hard to watch again. -

Came here for this. Thank you. Eichel had a ton of space to beat his guy. Looked like game over.- 548 replies

Pretty much. I'll email sabres and the league tomorrow. I'm taking a break from this NFL-like product until they fix it. Plenty of good youth and college hockey to enjoy. Freakin garbage.

100% And the media / gov't presenting it as such further erodes their credibility. I think former CIA Director, now CBS consultant, Michael Morell was the primary culprit. Also Mattew Olsen, former direct of National Counterterrorism Center. Media outlets don't challenge it, instead just regurgitate, doing extremely limited service to the people / journalism.

Was a nice streak too, all 82 last year.

This thread has turned into My Caffeine Testimony, pretty damn funny, but this is more of the discussion I was after. I think science's take is now "if you aren't using caffeine with sports, you are leaving money on the table" so to speak. It's not just about being more alert/awake, muscles show less fatigue and stuff. WADA has limits, and there's probably some questionable studies funded by the industry, but I think Eichel publicly slugging that red bull was a moment.

Thanks NHL, ruining my favorite sport with your dumb ass replay. That goes to GMTM too who is on record as supporting it.

NoDoze! Gettin' the job done.

Anyone else catch NBCSN show Eichel swigging Red Bull in locker room pre-game on Tues? Now, that stuff is way to sweet for me personally, but I find it interesting he's taking caffeine before games. Plenty of studies say caffeine is beneficial to sports performance, though typically it's endurance related, not sprint. My personal experience with coffee + bike is very good. And as a parent of 2 teenagers in youth sports, I've recently considered encouraging them to use it for games/meets via their liquid of choice (energy drink, mt dew, iced coffee (no dairy)). On the other hand, given the anti-caffeine environment around youth, it seems a bit taboo. Curious if this is generational, and if sports science is now pretty clear, fire it up for all sports. Gotta assume Eichel has good (the best?) nutritional consult around him...
