  1. FWIW, from someone who used to live in Tampa, Tom Jones knows nothing about hockey. He opines once or twice a year and beyond that could care less. He may not be "high on Ruff," but I doubt he even knows who Ruff is.
  2. Cut resistant socks. Ott said he got clipped a few games ago, but didn't even have a scratch thanks to the socks. http://www.tuffnlitehockey.com/
  3. Olive Garden gives me the craps. Has for years. Every single time I eat there (which is why I haven't in 4 years).
  4. I put a thin layer of baby shampoo on mine every few games and never have problems. But then again, I'm not much of a sweater.

  6. Don't they use something similar to that in the NLL?
  7. Can you imagine how steamy Soupy's visor must've been before he addressed his sweat issues?
  8. People make the argument that players in juniors and the minors are required to wear visors, but they are different types of visors. I went to an AHL game recently and close to half the players weren't wearing the visor properly, so it was basically worthless. Just as easy as you can slide it up (to leave most of your face uncovered) it can slide down upon impact and cut you. Visors in Juniors are mounted at the top and the sides so they don't move.
  9. Ott said something interesting about visors this morning on WGR. He basically said he wore one for a time last season while recovering from an eye injury, and that with his style of play, it moved around a lot and cut him numerous times. I wear a visor playing in beer league, and I prefer it to a cage, but I do agree, that it has a tendency to slide up and down. I can only imagine it's 100 times worse playing a physical style of hockey where it's getting moved around each shift.
  10. I'd look to Columbus to try and make a deal. That franchise is withering away, and with the run they've been on they could go "all in" to try and capitalize on what they have going. Moving Nash alienated a lot of the fan base, but making a big splash could prove a lot, and bring the fans back in droves. I'd offer a package of Pominville and Miller. In return, I'd take Mason (who seems to be a bigger head case than Miller, but maybe he can regain form in a new city), Foligno or Dubinsky and a package of picks including one of their three first rounders. Granted Pominville and/or Miller may block a trade to Cbus, but it's a start.
  11. In January 2009 he was suspended for 4 games for elbowing Claude Giroux.

  13. I'm trying to hire a new salesperson. It's a pretty sweet job for a recent grad or someone who has been out of school for only a few years. $28K salary plus commission, health insurance, retirement plan, 3 weeks PTO the first year, domestic and international travel. I've had the job posted on three local university job sites and through indeed.com, and not one single person with less than 8 years experience has applied. The salary is low, but it's a new position with a small company, and there's lots of room to grow if you're good at it. For all the talk about how horrible it is for recent grads to find jobs, why has no one applied? I just don't get it.
  14. Wasn't Conacher an invite to one of the Sabres prospect camps?
  15. Kevyn Adams was a center. Not an offensively gifted one, but he was a center.
  16. Another fine example of Lindy Ruff stifling young talent.
  17. pretty good. Michael Ryan L 48 17 16 33 48
  18. I live about 20 mins west of Charlotte.
  19. Ted Sator was the coach when I first started following the Sabres (I'm 32), so I remember Lindy as a player (as well as Rick Vaive, Ray Sheppard, Mikko Makela and Tony Tanti). I remember him being involved in some legendary battles with the Bruins during the 80's.
  20. I think you might be right, especially if he stays on in the organization in some capacity.
  21. Agreed. I think he's a great coach and hope he has success elsewhere, but the time had come (a long time ago).
  22. Even if Cody goes unclaimed, it's not like the guy is unemployed. He still has another year left on his contract ($1.2 mil this year and $1 mil next), and would receive the full amount if sent to the AHL. While it sucks that his wife probably found out about it before he could tell her, it's not like he has to go look for work tomorrow morning. He's going to get his money one way or another. Yeah, he may have to leave Buffalo to play for another team (AHL or NHL), but that's the "business side" of sports and he's still getting paid.
  23. Ennis is one of the truly entertaining players on this team. He's got great speed, skill, and isn't afraid to go into the corners for someone his size. That said, if he can fetch something that will improve the team, then I'm all for it. Tyler Ennis is not "the answer" to Buffalo's woes. I have higher hopes for Tyler than I ever did for Afinogenov, but I see them similarly in some ways. Neither is the type of player that will/can carry a team (like a Vanek), and flashes exceptional skill, but always leaves you wanting more. The Sabres screwed the pooch on Max and should have dealt him before he lost all value. If Ennis can be a solid complimentary player, then great. If he can be used to acquire a stud, then even better (I'm not saying O'Reilly is a stud, just making a general statement).
  24. "Back" in the AHL? It's his first trip there.
  25. Right now probably not much. No team is going to bend over backwards to acquire an under performing player with a huge contract. They see the same "highlights" we do on a nightly basis. It's now known league wide that he's a pylon that doesn't play up to his size or skill set.
