Sabres ride Miller and Myers to 5th in the Atlantic and squeak into the playoffs with 92 pts. Miller spends the whole season in Buffalo and does not sign an extension. Vanek is traded at the deadline for a prospect and pair of draft picks. Sabres deal some of their 2014 picks and McNabb for a big tradeline acquisition to replace Vanek. Grigorenko finishes second in most games as a healthy scratch behind Scott. Girgensons finishes with more points than Grigorenko. Flynn scores more goals than Stafford. Stafford finishes the season in Buffalo, and is scratched down the stretch. Risto leads all defensemen in +/-. Hodgson is the leading scorer with 82 pts. Ott signs a 3 year extension for 4 mil per, and also scores 18 goals. Foligno scores over 20 goals. Kaleta leads the league in games suspended. Myers receives votes for the Norris, and Girgensons and Risto get votes for the Calder, but none win an award. McCormick leads the team in PIMs and finishes 4th in the NHL in fighting majors. Rolston is a finalist for the Adams.

Got a good deal on a new (to me) car this weekend. Drove 45 minutes away to visit a dealer and the sales manager just happened to be the dad of one of my son's former classmates in daycare, plus my wife taught all 3 of his kids. It was nice driving to work this morning without having to cross my fingers that my car was going to fall apart.

The transmission went on my car while driving to work yesterday. But a friend of mine is buying it from me for $1,000, and I only paid $1,000 for it two years ago. Now I get to go "new-to-me" car shopping this weekend.

Yes and no. If Cody is sent down (assuming he'd clear waviers) he wouldn't have the same role in Rochester that he would have in Buffalo. He'd be counted on to play PP, PK, and probably be a top-6 forward, not just counted on to play a physical game (which, barring injuries, is all he's asked to do in Buffalo). That said, I hope he does stick in Buffalo all year. McGuire is replacing Tarnasky. Plus, it means they don't have to waste a veteran roster spot on a tough guy (which, IIRC Tarnasky was).

Interesting pickup for the Amerks. He's not the biggest guy, but there are some great clips out there of him battling much bigger guys (like Tinordi) and handling himself really well. I saw the following posted at the end of Vogl's article re: Kaleta: The Sabres also broke their practice sessions into three groups, and one could easily be considered the Rochester Americans. It consisted of Peter Trainor, Jonathan Parker, Johnny McGuire, Alex Lepkowski, Kevin Sundher, Shawn Szydlowski, Colin Jacobs, Eric Locke, Frederick Roy, Matt MacKenzie, Brady Austin and Nick Crawford. Does anyone know if the "Johnny McGuire" mentioned above is the same one who logged 27 fights two years back with Erie in the OHL? If so, he's had a few scraps with some top end prospects/tough guys, plus Zadorov and Lepkowski to name a few. Interesting invite if the Amerks are looking for muscle.

While they don't have any retail banking locations, I believe they're growing within the credit card industry.
