Overall a pretty decent period by the Sabres. Solid effort. A few missed chances and breakdowns but we played inspired and entertaining at least.

I think, as Sabres fans, we should almost hope that it was Pegula and Black calling the shot. Not that we should like meddling ownership, but they have to do something when something needs to be done, and this was a case when it surely did. That also would imply, that if Darcy didn't want to fire Lindy, and TP/TB made him, that Darcy would automatically be on thin ice, too. At the very least for not seeing and willing to do what they clearly see and were willing to do. So only two possible scenarios are likely to happen. The Sabres go on a tear and make the playoffs, and Regier is somewhat validated for his roster (for it will take quite a tear to get there) -- OR -- the new coach doesn't help much either and then TP/TB might very well take the next necessary step, getting rid of Darcy, too, which is seemingly made a little more possible if not probable by their actions today. Granted, that is a lot of conjecture. But while normally I don't like ownership stepping in on GM duties, I'm glad they did this time.

i don't have time right now, but if someone wants to post the 5-10 overall picks from, say, the last 8-10 years, that would be a good barometer as if ROR for that would be a viable option.

I'm not sure about this, but if any GM in the league was sure he could get Ryan O'Reilly and his combination of skill set/production/potential with his 5-10 #1 pick, he would jump at it. Especially considering that the Sabres do have guys like Armia and Grigs coming up with potential offensive skills. Stafford would be a throw in almost, considering the salary and the roster spot that would be taken by ROR.

Sekera may have escaped with only a bad charley horse and miss only a few days, according to Lindy.
