  1. Myers another really nice play. Foligno tap in. 2-0.
  2. He should have had two already tonight. Girgensons still doesn't seem to be back.
  3. Quite an exciting opening period. Still way, way too many quality shots given up. But with these line-ups it kills me that they are in these games let alone winning them.
  4. At least Stewart is trying in the first period this game.
  5. I doubt it. Snow has to make the decision in concert with the owner. Unless Snow is fired before June 1, which is possible, and regardless of what he may say, he is going to protect his own ass. If he defers and they suck again down to the McDavid sweepstakes, Snow is going to be out of a job. I say they defer even though they probably shouldn't.
  6. I like him a lot, although at least half of that is of the he's being given the benefit of the doubt variety. I love the way he handles interviews, mostly because as opposed to most other guys in his position in this and other sports, he seems to care less about creating an image or sounding good. He's not naive; in fact, I think he's more calculated than he comes across as far as what he says in interviews and pressers. But it's not in the deceitful kind, more of the crafty, I can't give too much away kind but this is what I will tell you. I love that he can't wait to get away from the camera and go look at more players and get out on the road to see the live. As far as his vision goes, IMO, he has only brought four players in so far that are part of the Sabres future and that vision, not counting the goalie: Stewart, Fasching, Deslauriers, and Carrier. All of them are good to great sized power forwards with some offensive skill and lots of potential. That is what we are lacking and that is what he is after right now. Conacher is just for this year and maybe the tank. Klesla, Mitchell, etc. don't count, as they were just salary or filler guys. He's fearless and not afraid to make mistakes, which of course he will make. He seemed to be thinking of everything as the deals were made today, outside of Terry's money, which is fine with me. The back-up goalie, for example, could either turn out to be a shrewd move, or just one less piece we have to find to field a team the rest of this year and next. I liked McNabb but he was expendable for sure. McCormick we have six of. We gave away some #2s and #3's but we have so many picks as to render them meaningless (and got a couple back). I hope he is as good a talent evaluator as his reputation; he could and should be a terrific GM for years to come.
  7. That's a pretty good haul considering we probably could have only signed one of those guys if we tried to, and still have a chance to sign Ott or Moulson, although it may not be so likely.
  8. I think he was referring to "3-4 years" before you see if Fasching is going to be a top six very good winger in the NHL.
  9. 25% of 22 players seems to me to be close to 5 1/2 players. That, to me, means Enroth or Ennis also being talked about.
  10. This really isn't the right thread for this, so I will just make up the rumor that the Sabres are interested in drafting Nik Ehlers. He scored a hat trick of hat tricks tonight (well, his third straight game with a hat trick), two of them were shorties, and now 16 goals in last 7 games. On a little tear I'd say.
  11. Enroth has had a remarkable game, so I am remarking on it.
  12. Because you're a professional hockey player and the Sabres are paying you about $40,000 for this game.
  13. But he based on the fact that PLF was pissed over the trade and there is not only little evidence to that, but a lot of evidence against it.
  14. Bucky Gleason ‏@TBNbucky 3m People griping about LaF quitting job with Ises: He was a volunteer advisor. Cant quit job he didnt have. They ignored him, so he split.
  15. It just seems impossible to me that discussing trading Miller, and Ott, wasn't a main topic of conversation while vetting Murray before he was hired -- and to think that the trade Murray pulled pissed off PLF enough to resign in a huff or make such a stink that he got fired for it is unfathomable. Not to mention that blowhard Milbury is the last person to trust on an issue like this.
  16. If they win this game, Nolan should get two votes for Coach of the Year. Not that the Stars are good, but after all that, on the road, four wins in a row with this increasingly depleted lineup is ridiculous. Enroth is showing some mettle.
  17. I agree. I have lived in two cities that have the majority of their population from someplace else, Phoenix and Los Angeles. It's extremely hard to find good, loyal, emotionally attached fans there. I was just commenting on how they planned to sell the tickets and fill the arena. And you're right, a lot of the sold tix would be empty seats. I know for a fact that my facts in this thread are almost facts. ;)
  18. There have been all kinds of proposals for arenas and stadiums and sports complexes planned for and proposed and on the brink of being agreed to and built. They have all fallen through for various reasons, mostly political. One will eventually be made, but I am very skeptical about each one that is allegedly supposed to be done. A few years, the same guy I know very, very well had an arena on the verge of being approved and built in Vegas, had an NHL owner committed to bringing his team there, no problem from Bettman, and had lengthy one on one discussions with Daniel Stern about an NBA team there and Stern was very willing to explore it, he just hadn't necessarily gone to the owners and lobbied for it and got a yea or nay vote. It will happen at some point, although it could be 10 years. I think they would be counting on a lot of the tickets being provided by the casinos and tourism buying them and giving them away.
  19. I personally know for a fact that the NHL is willing to go to Vegas. It's really the arena that is holding that city back. That's not to say as soon as they get an arena a team is immediately moving there. I just know, firsthand, that they already told at least one ownership group that they are open to having a team there. And this was a few years ago. Unless something changed in the interim.
  20. I think that quote is so blatantly obvious that it doesn't need to be said -- and needs to be repeatedly said.
  21. Nick Kypreos ‏@RealKyper 3m #Sabres /LaFontaine settle terms on his multi yr deal. Won't be hearing from Pat anytime soon as he also signed a non-disclosure agreement
