I would say your competence figure of merit is skewed. And that’s without knowing the exact constraints that are put upon him by ownership. And I think it’s pretty well-known we’ve been operating under an internal cap for the last several years. If he were truly incompetent… truly incompetent by the definition of the word, we would be DFL year after year.

Please point to the roster players that we acquired (the subject of this discussion) that replaced the scoring numbers of Jack Eichel and Sam Reinhart. A healthy Tage and Quinn, along with a more productive PowerPlay, will close that gap considerably.

And the year after that they scored 3.6 goals per game.

At the end of the 20–21 season the Sabres scored 2.4 goals per game. We got rid of Eichel and Reinhart and probably some others I have forgot and the same argument was made. Who’s gonna replace all these points? We proceeded to score 2.8 goals per game the next season.

It’s what happens when you don’t have the main pieces in place and players have to play above where they should.
