GDT: Sabres @ Lightning, Feb 23, 2023, 7:00 pm; MSG WGR

I’ve been advocating for Lyubushkin to be in shootouts all year. Now I have my proof. -
https://infogram.com/buffalo-sabres-1hd12yx18kdzx6k currently sitting at 50% higher than last year. This is right around the time the team had their late season run.

Ultimately, this is why jersey talk is all nonsense. I think the caps jerseys look sharp and Carolina looks like trash. Red on black is unreadable. Do you think both are horrendous. The person above things Carolina look sharp. 🤷🏻
-
So this is all being discussed in Around the NHL. Are you looking to pull the conversation out of there and into here? My educated guess is that it’s now going to occur in two spots.
-
Nope. I don’t even know how this is possible in 2023 after years of begging for people to stop doing this. Topics come up. You talk about them. Then people stop talking about them and they fade into the archives. When something new comes up, a new topic is made and the conversation changes. In no way should people this summer be forced to wade through 37 pages of discussing of whatever in the winter of 2023. If there’s something specific you want to talk about, then by all means please start a new topic. All about Levi the goalie is not a topic.

It hasn’t been more difficult than to have read this comment. Congratulations on your awfulness. -
I guess traditional two point games had the extra point added. Fair enough. Three point games greatly exacerbates it. The current system awards the third point in a minority group of games. Making every two point game a three point game flips that script and hands out a tremendous number of points over what we are used to. We are at the All-Star break and Boston would be somewhere around 110 to 115 points. Currently, the loser point may have added two or three points to their current total.

If anyone is going to make a compelling argument here to fix something then you have to prove that a problem exists. As far as I can tell there’s only two categories of reasoning: 1. Current scoring system is not logical. This is not really sufficient. In baseball, a home run in Baltimore is different than a home run in Cincinnati which is different than a home run in Arizona. That’s not logical, but nobody’s proven that it is sufficiently a problem to be fixed. see number two. 2. Current system rewards undeserving teams to a point where bad teams get into the playoffs, well better counterparts miss out. Ultimately, this is the only thing that really matters. Logical or not, unless the current system is rewarding the wrong teams then a real problem technically doesn’t exist and therefore the fix is unnecessary. Someone mentioned above that this keeps more teams in the hunt. Someone needs to show that analysis just as much as showing the analysis that the current system rewards the wrong teams. lastly, changing the screen system blows up the highly ingrained what’s a good season versus was a bad season point totals as well as the record books. You really have to show your fixing a real problem before you ask the NHL to throw out all that institutional memory.
-
Haven’t they done the analysis and found out that there are almost no changes in the standings when changing to a 3-2-1-0 system?

Forced rivalries are a cure that’s worse than the disease. Rivalries occur organically. It’s not like rooster fighting were you just throw two teams on the ice a bunch and they automatically hate each other. It’s such a contrived way of looking at things.

I was pretty impressed with our response after the first period. I’m happy with it. -

Well that was disappointing. -
I would agree 100%. Fans like the give the 110% every shift mantra, but who on earth thinks that is sustainable?

If you haven’t seen it on Netflix Trainwreck: Woodstock ’99’ was great.
-
I know there was the Woodstock debacle in the 90s, but I don’t know of any other 300,000 person concerts being held. Large festivals yes, but not of that size. Do you have any examples of a festival being that large?

I never really saw them as a hairband even though they adopted the look at the very end of their career. To me Mötley Crüe/Twisted Sister launched that gaggle of groups who pretty much killed rock as we knew it back then.

it was really well done.

I thought the next airing was at midnight? I believe it’s two hours.
-
Yes. I was there in November 2019. Fan #54.

Incredible live performances that the recordings don’t do justice. By all means watch the documentary and you’ll find out just how dominant they actually were in their heyday.
-
If not, move along. A new Triumph documentary is showing tonight on AXS TV. I’m in some of the crowd scenes at the end of all you really wouldn’t be able to pick me out unless you know where to look. i’ve seen it multiple times. It’s really a great piece of history of music during that time period.
