  1. Past hour
  2. No question on an NHL level, but organizationally would you rather take away from another failed season a top 4 pick or a top 10 pick? All winning right now does is f’up our draft position and convince TP and Howdy Doody to run it back one more time. To make it even worse, the more counting stats the RFAs pick up, the bigger their next contract. This is one time where winning hurt more than it helps.
  3. Because they aren’t good defensemen. They literally have no idea how to in zone defense. They can’t kill penalties. I don’t know how else or how many times I have to say this, outside of Dahlin no one in our D group is capable of playing solid consistent defense. It may be the worst group of β€œdefensemen” in the NHL. We need to flush the lines and re-think how we approach the defense, otherwise it won’t matter how many goals we score or how well our goalies play; this team will remain a loser picking 8th.
  4. We already have two 1st over alls on the roster and nothing has changed. The draft position myth is over, 1 more top 5 isn’t going to matter. Veterans, that will make a difference.
  5. 7-3 in our last 10, winners of 3 straight just in time to F-up our draft status and again pick 8th. This is also going to give Adams and Pegula the false impression that the team is on the right track.
  6. Today
  7. Quinn was bad on the 5 v 5. Nice goal in the shootout, he has scoring skills, but when Norris and Greenway are healthy Quinn goes to the bench.
  8. Well they are definitely not tanking. If they are, they clearly don't understand the concept πŸ™‚ They are in fact blowing their chances of a top 5 pick but I don't care. We don't need more prospects, we need guys who can play now.
  9. I don't put any stock into these games but it looked like they've been practicing that 3 on 3. Lots of fast fluid blind passing and deliberate movement as a unit. They get that right and they can pick up a lot of extra points in the future. They need to bring some of that to the PP. You can't judge much when a guy is saddled onto the 4th unit but Γ–stlund looked like he needs more time in Rochester.
  10. Agree with that 100%.
  11. harlem and maryvale iirc, grew up less than 2 miles from there...
  12. You're not seriously buying in to this late season bs are you? How many times you going to fall for this?
  13. I live in Hamburg now but I always tell people I'm from Cheektowaga.
  14. He’s got that quietly reliable in his own zone thing going so far, at least by the eye test. Lindy’s run out today’s D pairings in 6 of the past 7. The one time he didn’t Dahlin got sick and that was the one loss. In those 6 games: Dahlin 2 5 7 +7 22:37 Samuelsson 1 4 5 +6 20:26 Power 0 2 2 +1 18:40 Bernard-Docker 1 2 3 +3 14:23 Byram 0 2 2 +6 21:41 Clifton 0 5 5 +6 20:20 (Somebody hide this post from @Thorner 😬) Looks like it would be a mistake to say Docker has elevated Power; they seem to be the 3rd pair. No one should be particularly surprised that Dahlin has elevated Mule, but the success of Byram Clifton is an eyebrow raiser. Fancy stats paint a different story (includes the Philly loss) Dahlin 44.2% Samuelsson 34.9% Power 44.6% Bernard Docker 40.3% Byram 42.6% Clifton 40.8% All of these guys are below their SAT rates for their year during this hot streak.
  15. So they don't crumble in meaningless, no pressure games. I trust you are too smart a fan to read too much into it. It just doesn't matter. Tage said as much a few games ago.
  16. Yeah, a couple of weeks of good play when any pressure has been removed does not negate 5+ months of mediocre/bad/wretched play. Sadly, I expect this outfit to, once again, buy into this version of the Sabres and make minimal changes. Lather, rinse, repeat.
  17. I'm not describing him as that. That's what he'll be though if he doesn't improve his 200ft game. He'll develop into better olofsson. We need more from Quinn.
  18. For this team to win the goalie needs to stand on his head. That's what UPL did last year. That's what Levi did when he joined the team after college and that is what Reimer is doing of late. FIx the defense, fix the team.
  19. Fun game, entertaining. Thought they were lucky to win, gave up way too many high quality chances. Reimer stood on his head. Doesn't change anything for me tho. That losing streak in November told us everything we need to know about this team. You simply cannot "run it back" based on a few weeks of meaningless games at the end of the season.
  20. Curious how often the top 2 lines were out against the Point line. I remember them pinning the McLeod line in the zone but I don’t know if that matchup was something that was out there consistently. Lindy seems to be rolling out the current line mix with the idea they’ll lose the battle to the opponents top line and win on the next two. Entertaining game.
  21. Yeah. Not falling for this again. I'm sure if they don't make some significant changes they'll be the same frustrating bunch in OCT/NOV/DEC they always are.
  22. God, totally forgot there was a game today. Anyway, always nice to beat Tampa.
  23. The GM doesn't need to tear down the pillars of this roster, but he does need to make a couple to few moves to better round out this roster. Can he add another Zucker-like player who may be a little younger? I hope so. I'm not suggesting an overhaul so much as a few smart transactions can make a difference to getting this team over the hump.
  24. Wow a drive by after nine years. I am feeling beaten down. I can’t think about the tank any longer. I’m only looking forward.
  25. There is no question that Quinn needs to round out his game beyond the offensive side of the game. It comes down to whether he can improve in being a more responsible two-way player or not. I believe he can while many don't. I recommend patience.
