Anonymous players spill on what went wrong this year
MISabresFan replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
Who was the coach when Miller was run over by Lucic? If I remember correctly didn't Tootoo run over MIller again when her returned? -
Players that want to be here. Work ethic. Accountability. Great Locker room. Player buys in Step it up Take our play to the next level Play not to lose One game at a time Total Team effort Take care of the puck Get in front of the net He is a good locker room guy (not sure if I heard this one from a Sabre's player) It is about execution etc... I don't think one player will change this team. It will take a lot more than that.

And the Oil get a PP in OT and get the W. Kings looked gassed in OT

Wow what a game between Kings and Oilers.

If they haven't named him captain yet, they're doing it wrong.

I'm not mad or freaked out, just curious how this happened: At work I was in a resident's apartment. She has a cell phone. A plush toy Charlie Brown had fallen behind her chair, so I retrieved it for her. I made a Good Grief joke, said that's Charlie Brown's luck and, after seeing her Peanuts calendar, asked her if she liked Peanuts (duh of course, it's just the small talk you make). I got home tonight and was perusing the YouTube app on my TV, and there's a show or documentary about how Charles Schultz created Peanuts. How in the world does that happen? P.S. my phone was outside the apartment and down the hall a short distance.

I’d love to see a 1-1-1-1-1 format someday (or the 7 game version). Travel isn’t really an issue when you get a Rochester-Syracuse matchup. It would have been great years ago when MLB had the subway series matchup. -
Power would have broken his other leg by now.

Yep. Sad but true. Anybody hoping for significant changes/upgrades is just going to be disappointed. We're just going to be fed a diet of "youngest team in hockey" again and they'll tout the 12-7-1 finish as "progress." Adams will sign a bottom 6 forward or two and maybe another redundant bottom-pairing defenseman and call it good. Lather, rinse, repeat.

As with any team some players will play harder and others will shrink. The playoffs are an entirely different game than regular season hockey but also has a tendency to change players. Danny Briere was never a physical player but he loved playoff hockey although the physicality increased. Now I highly doubt Power will suddenly get a backbone in the playoffs but a guy like Peterka could. Although rare, he does occasionally show a slightly more physical game.

I think I agree with you. Which is a very narrow view by TP…the Sabres lose money so he cannot spend more cash than he absolutely needs to. It’s a business decision by a businessman. Meanwhile the guy’s net worth went from 4.7 BILLION in 2019 to 7.6 BILLION today. This is why I cannot defend the guy to his haters. He promised hockey heaven and the last few years has delivered ‘ballin on a budget.’ He will have regrets for some of these decisions when money won’t prolong his life and the Sabres continue to be what they are.

Shades of the old short lived Campbell Conference playoff format (which went 2-3-2 & IIRC briefly let the higher seeded team decide whether to have the bookend games or the ones in the middle (might be misremembering that, but could swear they had that option for a year or 2)) in the Laval Cleveland series. -
Wilson just destroyed the Habs playoff will be a whole different animal for us, if we ever get there

That had to be the longest 2nd period I ever remember. Even before the fight it was really dragging. Syracuse plays a very trappy game and the Amerks were having a lot of trouble with it. Once Kulich blasted home the Power play goal The Crunch had to open up a bit and the Amerks had more ice to work with. To the Amerks credit even though they gave up a lot of shots few were high danger and it's not like either team was giving up breakaways. Levi was good not to give up any soft ones. Crunch had one open net post hit when the got behind Levi but that was it. Amerks needed to clean up own zone exits and offensive zone entries. Took too many off side plays. Still they can skate circles around the Crunch when they can avoid the checks. Hope they keep rolling. -
Tom Wilson wrecking kids out there.

Habs really playing well tonight. No reason the Sabres can’t do this. We deserve better Terry.
-
Sabres have no idea how physical the playoffs are because they havent been there... Ottawa doesnt either and were smacked the first two games but kinda figured it out... Young Sabres really need the experience even if they lose in first round
-
We all know TP and GMKA have their heads up their a$$e$, but if they just watched even a game or two of these playoffs, how can they not understand this team isn’t remotely close to being built for the playoffs? Unfortunately, I am feeling more convinced that they don’t want to build a team capable of succeeding in the playoffs….but rather a team of soft players who lacks guts and physicality.

Incredible story on Habs goalie Dobes.

The family had a blast. It was a weird game….it took three hours and ended in regulation. The KO from the fight, two pucks on the ice at one time at one point, a Cuse fan got booted by security in front of me, a lady took a puck to the face that stopped the game, etc. Let’s sweep the gross Crunch. I’ll be driving to Cuse for game three on Thursday.
