Which players were these?
-
I get it, it's the owners fault. It's always their fault as the highest rank. The why is what's interesting to me and it's subjective. You say Terry is silent, others say he's meddling. Neither mean anything, at least to me. You couldn't know he's silent and neither could anyone that thinks he's meddling. "A lot of fingers are understandably polnted at the current feckless GM. My finger is pointed at the silent owner.". This actually means absolutely nothing. What imagination and hockey wisdom is involved here?

Hoping they called Primeau up. He was by far the difference in the game they clinched the division. -

Amerks have a bye rd1. They begin a best of 5 vs Syracuse. If the win that they face (likely) Laval, their biggest roadblock. Anyone know if Montreal called any key players up? -

Amerks last two games this weekend, both against the Toronto Marlies. 7pm puck drop tonight. -
Yup but team needs to work together more.

Quinn was able to cut through the hands of defenders and win puck battles. He could be knocked off pucks but it didn't knock him out of the play. He was able to play in traffic. That's mostly gone now. Quinns toolbox has excellent shooting, passing, and pretty good offensive zone play but in tight checking games, he's useless. If I can move on from him and get someone with a bit more checking and physical play, I would. We need better 2way forwards and Quinns a defensive black hole. Reinhart was a player Sabres fans wanted to be Tkachuk and that's unfortunate because he brought a ton of value in the way Tuch does without hitting everything that moves.

The reasoning given back at the B&GI's was that per the CBA the team can't force them to stay in Buffalo in the off-season (that rings true) and that they had limited communications with the individual player's personal trainers in the off-season as well (which didn't seem as true). At that, Ruff said that he plans on taking a significantly different approach to the off-season. It sounded like he wants the players and team to agree to individualized training plans; which one would've expected was already happening. Would really like to see the entirety of the coaching staff under Ruff (with the POSSIBLE exception of Bales) canned. But wouldn't be surprised if they only can some of the training staff (gotta have scapegoats) while bringing the rest of the staff back en masse. And, can believe that some of the players didn't "train the right way" through the summer as so many of them are kids, they might simply not know any better and the fact that they're pro athletes in their early 20's (for the most part) would have them getting faster and stronger simply by getting closer to their primes. But IF that is actually the case; then a WHOLE lot of management and the hockey department need to be gone; because THEY aren't kids and SHOULD know their roles within a professional athletic program.

Adams? Nah, wormtongue will spin it to get a few more years from Terry.
-
A number of players don’t live in the country. I don’t believe the organization has the authority to require the players to periodically call them back to be checked on.
-
CBA. Plenty of guys play hockey in the offseason. With teammates or other team’s guys.
-
This doesn’t seem to be the messaging they are going with
-
Did you ever see him as being a player to engage physically? I had the feeling he was a Reinhart type of player. Not seeking physical engagement but maybe made up for it with tenacity and being willing to get in front of the net, things like that. I wonder if his offensive disappointed, which he must have felt that pressure, led to him going down a bad path. You don't see much optimism he can rebound?

It doesn’t take much imagination or hockey wisdom to conclude why this franchise has struggled for the past half decade, the period of time that the owner’s hand picked GM has presided over the hockey operation. The owner gambled selecting someone to be his GM who was I’ll-equipped to assume the most important job in a hockey franchise. I’m supremely confident in saying that no other owner would have even considered him for the job. To make matters even worse, there is no owner in the league, good or bad, who would retain a GM with his accumulated five year record. At least for me, it’s not too difficult to figure out why and who is most responsible for the ridiculous situation this franchise is in. A lot of fingers are understandably polnted at the current feckless GM. My finger is pointed at the silent owner.
-
Don't know if the team is allowed to organize that in the off-season. The players would need to take it upon themselves to do it, hence the comments encouraging to do so from management. That said, the problem wasn't conditioning this year, the problem was roster construction and players too young to play outside their character. If you draft a bunch of finesse players and throw them on the ice at 21 or 22 years old, they're going to play like a finesse team. Telling them to lift weights isn't going to change that.
-
Because then it can’t be used as an excuse at season’s end get out of here with your iron-clad logic
-
Um why dont season have offseason training in Buffalo say every 2-3 weeks just evaluate where these guys are at... give them a month off then bring them all in?
-
It has gotten to that point. It’s a crossroads. The incompetence cannot be denied, but that’s been so for a long time. What cannot be denied, now, is that the organization’s goal is not to win A true crossroads as a fan. You either realize our anger has to be relatively worthy of their betrayal, increasing exponentially as their failures do, or you realize you have to stop caring because it’s hurting you, personally, too much, and you just can’t take it anymore i care too much for the crest. And for the fanbase, to lower myself to that. I will never follow this team apathetically, because I am too afraid to expect better. What a disastrous, disservice to the fine folks of the fandom that would be no, they’ll get my anger, and then they’ll get nothing

The secondary scoring on those Eichel/ Reinhart teams was terrible.

a few positives for the Sabres this year historically
