  1. Past hour
  2. I'm sorry but I just can't see how they Sabres would survive one game of playoff hockey. They might be able to hang for an odd period here and there but this team does not belong anywhere near this style of play.
  3. Nah, needs to be addressed to shut down the idiots.
  4. I do wish Beanne didn’t even bother with it though. He should be above what radio hosts think.
  5. Agree with Beane, the people wanting a WR are just looking for a flashy toy. When the whole problem last year was the defense. Good to see Beane not back down to the Armchair GMs.
  6. Eh. I don’t think it was that bad. Now I don’t know what Jeremy said before it, but sounded like Beanne was just defending his teams actions (and by team, I mean the scouting team and people involved in the draft)
  7. My central rooting interest is that the Oilers lose. Pp dependant frauds Yes I am biased, I just don’t like them Series would probably be over if not for that coaches challenge, they’ve been very lucky
  8. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/44901919/bills-gm-gets-testy-radio-hosts-nfl-draft-criticism It has made itself as a top headline on espn.com
  9. WGR as a whole
  10. Who? Jeremy White? Joe DiBiase (sp?)? Reportedly not very good at all.
  11. Very low quality. But anyway, how was this year’s WR class anyway? I really don’t hear all that much about it.
  12. Not sure I follow you.
  13. I have very little faith in anyone WGR rolls out there. They’re college radio most of the time.
  14. From the highlights... For the end of game, Rosén's ENG was very good. The wheels to get there, then the nonchalant sharp-angle backhand to show off his first-round hands. The defender had to go into overdrive and still lost the angle and then had to think Rosén would carry on into the corner and circle to look for a trailer -- then the backhand, and the defender was left scratching his head that he should've dove. Rosén's hustle put the Crunch in an impossible spot. Helenius was awesome after the final whistle. He'll turn 19 in a couple weeks.
  15. They do it all year. It’s their job. Edit: And these games are Friday/Sunday/Thursday/saturday/friday. That’s not doing it all again the next night. These game formats exist solely because travel is an issue. They would go 1-1-1 if it wasn’t. Rochester/syracuse is about as close to that as you can get.
  16. I don’t think there’s really any difference between the two options. Not much is happening right now in the way of roster decisions. That window is going to close soon, but at this very second, it doesn’t matter.
  17. You and I, yes. GMKA and giving away multiple assets for a veteran RHD? Seconds are only good for Malenstyn... I had excluded Dahlin from my list because he makes everyone better, but also I was referring to the 22-23; 23-24 seasons when Power-Joker was very common, not this last season. Power-Dahlin should be a combo when trailing in the 3rd. The luxury of two first overalls is to have one of them on the ice for 50 minutes of the game, not necessarily have both on the ice for only 25 minutes, unless trailing (regular season usage).
  18. Today
  19. Thankfully the Amerks have Prow and Brannstrom in the bullpen if Rathbone and Komorov miss any time. They might want to dress Jagger Joshua next game to settle some scores.
  20. True. BUT, the guy just below ownership in the overall organization comes from the NY Giants organization and also was apparently instrumental in getting the Hornets name back for the Bounceyball team in Carolina and they also went out and added another tickets/facilities management guy in the Sabres organization. It's POSSIBLE that they MIGHT put the bug in the ear of ownership that getting a top notch coach who isn't on the verge of retirement could go a long way towards making THEIR jobs significantly easier. (Not expecting it; but it is the point of the season where hope reigns supreme.)
  21. There has been a lot of smoke about Sullivan to the Rags.
  22. The Bryson signing, provided they aren't tight on the 50 contract limit, is a nothing move. One spot locked up in the pressbox when all are healthy and also when a younger guy you want getting ice time in the A rather than sitting around in the pressbox can finally get to wherever they're playing that given night. And he explained why he signed Bryson (to be the designated sit in the pressbox D-man): he gets along well with his teammates, he doesn't moan when he's not in the lineup, he's a borderline NHLer, and there is no appreciable difference in his level of play when he's sat in the pressbox for a few weeks vs playing on a nightly basis. Honestly, except for the fact he's not very good (which is why he's in the pressbox and not dressed when all are healthy) don't really have an issue with it. That's pretty much the definition of the ideal pressbox sitter. (You're never going to get a 2nd pairing guy as your 7th D-man; if you have somehow, then you're seriously lacking somewhere else (net, C, &/or W) because all your eggs are in the D-basket.) But, don't confuse "well, Pegula's already agreed to pay these guys through June" with WANTING them to not officially terminate the services of several current employees. Have said repeated that were it my choice, all the AC's would be history with the POSSIBLE exception of Bales and even his coming back wouldn't be set in stone.
  23. I wonder if the influence of the no holds barred vibe on podcasts — including the use of spicy language as the norm — played a role here.
  24. He came back to it again near the end and tossed out the "this isn't fantasy football" thing again and said something about ppl only knowing who the skill position players are.
  25. really enjoyed the game on Sunday. it wasn't a full house. there was a crowd there, but maybe 2/3 capacity? those that did go definitely got treated to a pretty good game (if you're rooting for the amerks). summary of what i saw: the amerks came out buzzing at the start. initially, they were all over the crunch. the first goal (helenius) was partially a result of luck. the puck was knocked up into the air and landed right in front of helenius, who happened to be in front of the net. two things lead to this goal imo: they were initially controlling play and helenius went to the goal. good things happen when you go to the goal! after the goal was scored, the team seemed to settle down and the crunch started controlling the flow of play more. with that being said, the crunch didn't really threaten levi much despite the number of shots they took. the amount of high danger chances was pretty minimal. the crunch were controlling the flow of the game until the komarov fight. even though komarov got caved in, the fight did two things imo. he stopped the crunch's momentum and gave the amerks motivation (i forget who, but i saw an interview on twitter/x that said that they had to do it for komarov). was great timing for the fight (if the timing was intentional, good on him). honestly, i'm not sure if they win this without the fight. komarov definitely held his own, but i think he got too aggressive and left the other guy an opening. all it takes is one bad one getting through. hopefully this doesn't discourage him from fighting in the future. it got really chippy really quickly after that. the refs quickly called another penalty to try to retake control of the game, putting the amerks on the powerplay and kulich cashed it in. they needed that goal really badly and it set them up to win nicely. clague had a really nice day. great shot for the third goal and i think he assisted on one of the earlier goals too. on the empty net goal, it looked like it was going to be icing. i think the ref was about to blow it dead and then saw rosen flying down there. he can really fly. he beat the crunch player to puck cleanly and scored from a funny angle. as far as empty netters go, seemed like a pretty good one. after the eng and the amerks up 4-0, you could just feel the crunch were going to try to pull something. things got physical. my favorite was actually helenius in this situation. even after the game ended, he was surrounded by crunch players and was still barking at them with his helmet off. he's got some spunk for sure All in all, it was nice to see some playoff hockey. It really is just a different beast relative to the regular season. I never was able to experience a live Sabres playoff game when I was younger, so here's hoping that this happens in Buffalo soon
  26. Personally would say he came off as tired and exasperated. (That segment was the only one this kid listened to, so maybe the rest of the interview was more condescending and defensive.) Probably would've been better served to have waited until tomorrow to take the interview, but expect the Bills are contracted to WGR to have him available on the Monday after the draft. And, don't normally stick up for Jeremy White, but thought he responded well to Beane's statements. Quite professional.
  27. Yeah. The fact that he unmasked in this way seems to suggest to me that he might be smelling his own farts (??), reading his own press clippings … or just generally taking undue pride in the team’s accomplishments under his tenure. Stay humble. Keep grinding. Growth mindset. And so on.
