  1. Today
  2. So sad looking at the standings. How long have we waited for the Bruins to fall? And the Penguins joined them. And the Rangers fell apart. And we sat on the bench and watched Ottawa, Montreal and Washington seize the opportunity. What a waste.
  3. I think this may be the first time I’ve typed these words, but Sam Lafferty looked good today. No one ever talks about him because he’s been such a non-factor, but my god has he been a disappointment. I was actually happy when they signed him after watching him last year in Vancouver. Today he looked like the player I thought we were getting.
  4. I’ve seen plenty of games where the Sabres have gotten off to a good start and then it becomes real obvious how much better the other team is over the 2nd and 3rd. Haven’t been many times I’ve seen the shoe on the other foot. That was one bad Boston team. The production still isn’t there; he’s gone 0/4/4/+2 on this 7 wins in 8 games heater. But the eye test says hell ya, and the analytics back that up - he leads the team with a 55.8 SAT% over that stretch and with 56.3% on the season. It’s so weird how with so many kids you see the offence and you say ‘don’t worry the D will come’. He’s one of the only guys I’ve ever seen show the D first.
  5. Going to have to look those up. I guess if they are both based in real physics, they are going to have similar themes and ideas.
  6. If the season ended today, the Sabres would draft 9th.
  7. With Eichel, he may want to stay and be a winner in Vegas rather than go home to be a savior again for the Bruins rebuild. It’s easy to trust Vegas with the cap space increasing.
  8. Jokiharju is their best defenseman and was somehow a +1 today and is a plus since joining their team. But when Joker is your best, you’re going to have issues. Apart from he and Zadorov, the rest of that AHL d-corps is like watching the Sabres-Canes playoff series or the Reinhart/Eichel tank seasons with less experienced players.
  9. One sabres loss or one habs win eliminates us
  10. They didn't simply beat us---they thoroughly spanked us!
  11. Going 0-4 against them was disappointing
  12. There is a bookstore that I frequent that sells old books on the cheap. I have reread a few James Michner books such as Chesapeake and Texas. His research is so detailed, and the family lineages in his books are captivating. I've also acquired from the same bargain bookstore a few Tom Clancy books that I read a long time ago. After re-reading The Hunt for Red October and Red Rabbit I have solidified my view that Russia is a malignant and malign country. Many of their past and current leadership are outright evil. The term "Evil Empire" (I think was given by Reagan??) is an apt description of that country. Putin is an evil person who is a world-wide menace.
  13. Ask Tom Brady
  14. ***** Montreal won yet again; of course they have to go on a 5 game win streak….. All the other teams around us have behaved and have been mediocre and yet the Canadiens have just refused to lose game after game. Now to get in, we must go undefeated and Montreal must not get more than 2 pts.
  15. It was Coach Donny that also got Dahling unlocked from the Krueger shackles. Krebs is starting to carve out a role for himself for his energetic and gritty play. But the player who will be appreciated more when the Sabres become more of a factor in the league is Benson. When he becomes more physically developed he will be recognized as one of the mainstay players on this team. To their credit, both Krebs and Benson are full effort players.
  16. The Bruins have Jokiharju and were playing their backup goalie. Their D was like watching the Sabres. Terrible positioning. Terrible decision making and terrible in zone processing. Kulich, Thompson and Benson look like the real deal. I love watching Benson dig out pucks in the corner and look for Thompson. Such a pleasure to watch someone who actually know how to play hockey and gives the requisite effort.
  17. Do love winning, after a slow 1st the Sabres gave Boston a beating and that was fun to see. Zucker’s goal was hilarious
  18. Yeah. I didn't want to say anything but, typical Central. 😛
  19. They're not even in the same ballpark, of the same league, on the same continent as the 2015 Sabres.
  20. It's a fad. I've got one like that. Looks like it started in North Texas. That checks out. I've seen them around for a coupla years now.
  21. The Expanse was based on the novels of James Corey (which is a pen name). The first one is Leviathan Wakes. The Three Body Problem is pretty good though. Starts slow but really picks up.
