  2. So Van has Quinn Hughes and acquires Hronek to partner with him to insure a dynamic pair. Colorado acquires Devon Toews to partner with Makar to have a dynamic pair. We on the other hand saddle Dahlin with Byram, Samuelsson, Power and other defensively challenged players and people here are ok with not giving Dahlin the right partner to maximize his potential. It would be laughable if it wasn't so sad. Dahlin and Power need legit partners next season! Power needs a mentor and a smart partner who can help him play 2 way hockey (Orlov?). Dahlin needs good skating defensively sound partner who can free him up to dominate offensively.
  3. It’s good stuff. Subtle! I appreciate it.
  4. Absolutely. It’s really all come home to roost. I’ve been posting about this for 5 years and no it does not feel good being 100% right. We’ve heard it from the players, it’s just like what I said: they were aware the goal wasn’t to win Adams’ long form slow play approach with zero expectations killed the build. He needs to go People will argue with a straight face Adams isn’t the worst GM we’ve seen
  5. Considering that’s the mandate on which Adams took over: it’s no longer my opinion. Adams not being fired would be a farce
  6. I didn't like putting Benson in the NHL straight from the draft. I'm not sure he'll ever be a top 6 guy. He just feels like another Krebs. I hope I'm wrong.
  7. JJP is arguably our 2nd or 3rd best forward. To me he's a staple, if you want to keep Byram you need to get Samuelsson's albatross of a contract out of here. I like Byram but at same be okay to move him, Samuelsson, Quinn, Benson, a prospect or 2 to get a top 6 guy. I'd love if could get Teravainen from Chicago to put on the 2nd line. I'm not sure what the Sharks could offer that be worth JJP given his age, contract and potential.
  8. You beat me to it.
  9. https://www.pravda.com.ua/eng/news/2025/04/22/7508654/ Hasek threatened by Russian government.
  10. Looks like the Bruins screwed up McAvoy's development.
  11. Any word on whether he's replacing the current VP of Revenue Strategy or is he going to be that person's boss now?
  12. Today
  13. My frustration with the way the Sabres are managed is reaching extremely high levels. Terry scrapped One Buffalo and made the teams operate separately and hopefully better focused on their businesses. Then Terry hires one guy (Guelli) for two COO jobs (Sabres and Bills). Now Guelli brings in a Sabres ticket sales guy. That actually makes more sense to me, but highlights the continuous changes and window dressing that occur. Hence, my joke. The new guy is buffering Guelli. If tickets sales continue to sag, the buffer gets it, not Guelli. It is just an attempt at humor.
  14. Our dog loved that fish commercial, because he'd get a special treat on Saturday morning and always told him "aw, but it's Saturday." As soon as he heard that, he was off to where the treats were kept. Didn't even need to hear "we were biting this morning, we were biting this morning."
  15. Dahlin is going to be the dominant partner with whomever he is paired with. He’s not in the Norris conversation because he plays on an irrelevant and inconsequential team. Everyone in the hockey business recognizes how good he is. However, he is not going to get the official recognition because he plays on a Pegula owned team.
  16. One random thought: If JBott is planning to Be a Sella for this McKenna Fella.... (It's what he learned in Buffalo, after all) Maybe you could get Adam Larsson to waive his NTC. Just enough tread left on the tires, leader, shot-blocker, and on a nice contract. If Seattle is on the McKenna timeline then Larsson is not part of it. And he'd help them win too many games in 2025-26 anyway. Byram the piece going back.
  17. And add to it that the coach had benched Olofsson the previous season upon Greenway's arrival. So, in addition to temporarily losing Quinn, they had a lame duck scoring forward that they (the coach) didn't want and the fellow players needed to be a different style of player. That's all on GMKA. Now, if you could combine Olofsson and Benson into one Olof Ben Voltronsson, you'd have something.
  18. The bear commercials were great. I miss the days when they showed the local commercials during the out of market games. And that fish commercial: "We were biting this morning.... we were biting this morning."
  19. Great clip. I still don't follow. Pete Guelli = Willi Cicci?
  20. You are missing the point. It has nothing to do with whether Benson plays defense or is a good player. The were supposedly going for it. This was the playoff push. Yet they left camp with no veteran replacement for an injured Quinn and gave a roster spot to an 18 year old. All Adams brought in was Eric Johnson who was on his last legs They gave the goalie job to Levi, a kid with 7 NHL games and 0 AHL games under his belt. They added no physical players or any other veteran experience, in fact the teams average age went down. Does this sound like a great plan for a team that committed to win? After the season Adams called the players over-confident, He also blamed the coach for not making them accountable. This time around the players are doing the talking, they know Adams is over his head. They should be. It is no wonder Peterka wants out at the first opportunity.
  21. Yeah. I've been saying (and I don't think I'm alone) that this organization isn't going anywhere until we get a clean sweep of the operations/coaching side. The culture sucks? Well, yeah. They haven't made the playoffs in 14 years and are moving in the wrong direction. The way things sound, if any changes are coming it's going to just be some musical chairs with the current power structure. How does shifting around the people responsible for the culture, the flawed roster, and the pitiful coaching change anything? The organization needs an enema, and it sounds like they're just preparing to pop some Pepto. No sweeping changes = a 15th year of no playoffs and each year you spin your wheels, you're shortening the runway for this current core (and it's a talented core, it just needs some help) to win anything.
  22. Regardless of partner, Dahlin is only getting leaguewide recognition and becoming a Norris finalist if they make the playoffs. Until then, he's a great player on a garbage team. The garbagiest of garbage teams. For ROI, getting Power a legitimate partner is the way to go, particularly since the plan is skate him 22 minutes/night. And the partner needs to be able to kill penalties that you don't want Dahlin/Power doing as their primary special team role. Kill two mynocks with one Force-thrown stone.
  23. Yep. IF they bring in a TRUE #2 D-man, the team is likely better off using him the way Anaheim used Pronger and Niedermayer than by pairing them together. And, it seemed that concept was something Ruff was trying to mimic after the deadline - having his 3 best D-men each playing with one of the bottom 3 guys. (Not going to debate whether Byram should be considered one of the top 3 via analytics; the Sabres considered him their 2nd best D-man.) The thinking heading into the season was through most of the game Dahlin would be paired with Samuelsson and then end the game with Power as the D-bench shortened at the end of close games. But with Dahlin not being 100% at the beginning, it didn't work. (It didn't come close to working.) When Samuelsson was paired with Dahlin at the end of the year, it worked much better. They seem to believe it was due to Samuelsson improving over the season; personally give at least as much of the credit for that improvement to Dahlin being at/near 100%.
  24. Not just about 900 W's. In the RS, exactly 900 W's. (Took 5 tries to get #900, but he got there.)
  25. Meh. Diminishing returns. Dahlin is elite with whoever he plays with. He’s a top 5 defenceman with a $4M partner. He and Byram were among the most successful #1 defence pairings in the league. How much better does it make the Sabres if he gets an $8M partner? It’s Power and the 2nd pairing that needs the partner upgrade.
  26. It seems that there is one individual in the organization that can’t see that there are too many kids in the room. If its KA, he needs to be fired. If its TP and KA is doing what he’s told, we’re *****.
