Amerks responding well to the Östlund call up. Down 5-0 in the second.
-
From the Sabres sole reason for existence is to win the Stanley Cup, to going with KA five years now after a 14 year playoff drought works with me as a good definition of a FRAUD!

Sabres recall Östlund from Rochester, April 4, 2025

This is just a late season look see. Not unusual for teams to do this. Evaluate exactly where his progress is. I think it likely he needs another year in Rochester. -
OMG did they ever. Just look into the Derek Sanderson story. If he hadn't been a party animal a lot of people think he could have been one of the top players in the league. There were others that indulged heavily as well. They didn't have the discipline and drive of some of those Montreal teams that's for sure.

Eichel to Boston in another year is a thing that could happen. Now all homeboys go home though. They said Hannifin was going to sign in Boston too and he went Vegas all the way. Eichel could easily stay in Vegas. However this does bring in the question of whether they are planning a one year (this year) tank or a two year tank for McKenna and then maybe signing Eichel and a rapid rebuild. What they do this off season might be interesting to watch. They've certainly pulled a rapid about face that's for sure.

The Trump Tariffs: Economic War

I’m afraid you’re right about it getting worse. And I think that’s exactly what he wants because he’s hoping there will be violent uprisings that will allow him to declare martial law in order to prevent another election. There will be deadly uprisings, but his martial law gambit to prevent elections won’t hold. FFS, we had a presidential election during the civil war insurrection. -
I’m not talking about the pathetic current run of the Buffalo Sabres. Never brought them up. I’m talking about the Boston Bruins and their ability in my lifetime to avoid the types of down periods that have afflicted most other franchises.
-
Anything any team does is miraculous relative to us with the exception of Detroit Who we are still way beyond
-
I just quoted the numbers - - - “9 of 10 prior to 2016” “6 of past 9” These are all random qualifiers assigned to each team, whichever makes them look worst 14 *straight*
-
Not sure how you are defining this, but I’m looking at it as “extended periods of mostly missing the playoffs.” And in terms of that definition Boston has been an outlier. In our division alone: Florida: missed 16 of 18 prior to 2019 Toronto: 9 of 10 prior to 2016 Montreal: 6 of the past 9 (though they did have a COVID miracle run in there) Ottawa: about to change after 7 straight misses Detroit: 8 seasons and counting Tampa 5 of 6 prior to 2014 The last time the Bruins missed more the twice in a row was the early ‘60s.

Hockey is just entertainment (Hardly for us the past 14 seasons) but you 100% should have no quams about going with your daughter and just have a blast, those are always great memories but that's just my 2 pennies on the situation.
-
It’s 3 seasons usually (at most) and you are back. SOMETIMES 4. Then there are a handful of outliers. Then there’s the buffalo sabres Even a little extra “Boston mystique” and it’s 1/2 years instead of 3. We are most thoroughly influenced by our experiences Sabres are the clock moving really fast in space. Our time is way slowed down
-
The bruins usually aren’t down for long because no one is usually down for long only 8 teams besides buffalo have missed more than 3 seasons

The Trump Tariffs: Economic War

Remember, Trump hates you, he hates your kids, he hates your parents, he hates your friends. You're nothing more to him than ***** on his shoe and the only time he cares is if he smells you. He'll burn this country to the ground. The man who did January 6th. The man who extorts allies while praising dictators. The man who views women as his personal sex objects, see Laura Loomer. I don't believe we will have another free and fair presidential election. Trump will not give up power. He'll ride his tariffs into the abyss, rather than admit he was wrong. It's going to get far far worse. -

I like seeing the call-ups before they reserve tee off times. -
Well I know the Patriots are 6-5. Id have to look up the Celtics and Red Sox. The Celtics I think started with an 8-0 run so that helps.

And only the 4th time in history that the DOW has lost more than 2,000 points in a day. And Trump’s comment? It’s a good time to get rich. -
Not sure this is about the Östlund call-up or not, but if it is, then as opposed to playing with less skilled players. It’s about putting him in the best position possible to showcase his playmaking skills with more highly skilled players than Lafferty and Malenstyn. It’s great that he can show his defensive game which he’s also good at, but it would be nice to see linemates who can actually take advantage of his playmaking. They should have done that with Rosen as well.
-
I'm actually kinda fascinated about this. They are largely bereft of both prospects and young players with upside. H. Lindholm, McAvoy, Zadorov, Pastrnak, Zacha, and E Lindholm are all good NHL players; do they add around them or use them to fuel a reset? How? On paper, it's easier to see this roster bottoming out than climbing back into contention. But the Bruins mystique has taught us to believe they wont be down for long. Really curious to see if the mystique is real or just a factor of the enduring power of the 2011 core.

Lafferty and Malenstyn don’t have the defensive acumen to play effectively with Lafferty and Malenstyn -
Further to the injury discussion: At the trade deadline the Sabres invested nearly $17M in 3 forwards for next year: Norris, Greenway and Zucker. They have combined for 21 of a possible 39 games since. The have also combined for 2 goals and 5 assists and a -7. Lucky we don't believe in paces from small sample sizes any more.
