‘The county’s biggest costs associated with the arena are related to liability and security costs. In 2023, the County Legislature approved an arena security agreement for the team to pay an escalating sum, equivalent to $1.38 million over the next four years. But that agreement is good for only as long as the county owns the building, said Poloncarz, adding that he is not interested in carrying the liability expenses associated with building ownership.’
