‘“We needed to play better than we did the other night,” said Sabres coach Don Granato. “We were sloppy the other night in defensive transition and defending. We did not play as a group of five. Our forwards were not helping our defensemen. Our defensemen were out of synch. Neutral zone stands, pucks going through us and no support when we did want to step up. Tonight, we needed to play better as a group of five with transitions coming back toward us and keep things to the outside.”’
Observations: Tage Thompson scores twice, Sabres hold on for 5-3 win
