‘The Islanders got on the board first thanks to Josh Bailey, but Zemgus Girgensons tipped a Brendan Guhle shot past Lehner 58 seconds later, tying the score 1-1. The teams combined for six goals in the middle frame with four of them coming courtesy of the Sabres. Casey Nelson opened things up, giving the Sabres a 2-1 lead. Shortly after, Dahlin let a wrist shot go from the point for the 3-1 Sabres advantage. An Anders Lee power play goal pulled New York back within one, but Jeff Skinner’s 2nd of the preseason, on a nice feed from Sam Reinhart, put Buffalo ahead 4-2. Skinner added another moments later, this time on the power play, for the 5-2 lead.’
