Botterill says he's trying to do an Eichel extension now

Source: WGR-AM

‘Eichel does still have a year remaining on his entry-level deal with the Sabres, and he would then be a restricted free agent. The one positive out of this situation is that the Sabres aren’t worried about Eichel leaving this year. However, the team certainly wants to sign their top guy on a long-term deal sooner rather than later. Also, Eichel is likely going to want a significant pay raise from the $925,000 base salary he currently has.’
