‘The hard part about doing the Winter Classic in New York is that the Rangers can’t technically be the hosts. The Yankee Stadium games worked because they were all local matchups and because they weren’t the signature Winter Classic. I’ve always found it hard to see the NHL just doing a Rangers outdoor game at Citi Field and not involving the Islanders. If this comes to pass and it’s Rangers/Sabres or something for the Winter Classic, I would expect a Stadium Series game to be held a few days later, that would involve the Islanders.’
