‘I’ve been involved in youth hockey for 16 seasons as a coach and parent. And whether I’m coaching or someone else is, whether it’s a house league team or Tier-I travel, whether they are 8 or 18, the expectations are the same: The coach is responsible for creating a fair and safe learning environment. The coach will be a positive role model in what he says and what he does. The coach will teach respect for opponents and officials. And when everyone else is losing their minds in what is a very emotional game, he must keep his cool.’
