Lack of grit blossoming into Sabres' defining trait

Source: Niagara Gazette

‘Herein lies the most serious difference between the Sabres and teams who deserve a playoff berth. Other teams mean it. Really mean it. Mean it when they go to the net. Mean it when they clear the puck. Mean it when they hit a guy because they’re angry. Not scoring is one thing. The Sabres have had their nights when they work and work, but can’t seem to put one past the other goalie. It happens. But to idly sit by when your goalie gets clipped, even if it was accidental and harmless, is something altogether different. It shows a lack of passion, and a lack of commitment.’
