‘Rivet said Sabres goalie Patrick Lalime was one of the players closest to the site where the Continental flight from Newark, N.J., crashed. Lalime had just arrived home after picking up his brother-in-law from the Buffalo airport. “His brother-in-law was outside getting some bags out of the truck and saw the plane coming right at them,” Rivet said. “He was like, ‘I don’t know if I’m supposed to turn or what I’m going to do.’ The plane goes literally over his head and lands about 800 feet away at most.”‘
