Sabres' Peters flexes muscle, defends fighting

Source: Ottawa Citizen

‘”I was surprised,” said Peters, who, coincidentally, was a healthy scratch for the Sabres last night against the Senators. “I think Paul (Kelly) knows, and NHL commissoner Gary Bettman knows, that fighting is a part of hockey, that there’s an entertainment value to it. This is a tough sport and there are a lot of skilled stars that need to be protected. Whether it’s 82 games a year or 50 games a year, I think there’s still going to be a need for guys like me. And, I’m not just saying that for my own comfort level, so to speak.”‘
