‘Joe Thornton, who was playing in his 700th NHL game, lost his cool shortly after Buffalo’s sixth goal. Thornton was being chased behind the Buffalo net by Jaroslav Spacek when the Sharks’ superstar tried to all but murder the Buffalo defenseman. Thornton gave Spacek a two-hander across the legs and cross-checked him from behind before finishing off with a blindsided sucker-punch. That apparently wasn’t enough as Thornton looked as if he intended to spear Derek Roy in the face when players from both teams started to converge.’
