Buffalo turns its lonely eyes to the Sabres

‘”I think what it comes down to is there’s nothing here to portray a sense of identity in this community like the pro sports teams,” Kelley said. “Chicago has its magnificent architecture, its image as a city at work. New York is the economic engine that drives the nation. Detroit is the home of the automobile industry. And so on. Buffalo was steel, and steel died here a long time ago. So the legacy of this town is the Bills and the Sabres. Unfortunately, because of the near-success, or the utter lack of it, there’s a ‘loser’ tag that gets hung.”‘
