‘Andrew Peters, the Sabres’ enforcer, was scandalized by what he heard from Campbell. It was as if he thought the very foundations of professional hockey were in jeopardy, to say nothing of his paychecks. The last few times we’ve seen Andrew throw down the gloves and engage enemy enforcers, it seemed more like what the Japanese call “Kabuki theater,” two guys heavily costumed going through stylistic and rigid movements that amount to a waste of time. Pro hockey is the only sport that allows fighting without the combatants being banished for the rest of the contest and sometimes suspended.’
