‘Nichol, a 14-year pro drafted ninth by the Sabres in 1994, played in parts of six seasons with the Amerks, from 1994 to 2000, and was a key part of the 1996 Calder Cup winning team. The following year he led the Amerks in shorthanded goals (4) and game-winning goals (6). He received the team’s community service award in the 1997-98 season and was team captain in 1998-99. He spent most of his last year with the Amerks recovering from a knee injury, in 1999-2000.’
