‘Financially cornered, John Muckler was forced to make the 1995 deal which delivered Alexander Mogilny to Vancouver for a 20-year-old Peca, Mike Wilson and a first round draft choice. Through development and a trade, the draft and Wilson became Jay McKee and Rhett Warrener, defence partners on the Cup finalists. Financially cornered, Darcy Regier was forced to make the 2001 deal which delivered Peca to the Islanders for a pair of promising kids, Taylor Pyatt and Tim Connolly. After scoring 38 goals in four seasons, the beefy Pyatt was sent to Vancouver for a mere fourth round draft this summer.
