'Archambault represents Buffalo's J.P. Dumont, a restricted free agent. Last week, Archambault accused the Sabres of insulting Dumont by offering him the standard 10 percent qualifying offer over his 2000-01 salary of $875,000. He called it "ridiculous." He suggested the team had "laughed at" Dumont. He demanded "respect" and said Dumont was ready to sit out training camp if he didn't get a contract commensurate with his status as Buffalo's second-leading scorer. But by Thursday, Archambault was already backing off. Reached in Montreal, he described the situation as a "misunderstanding" and said he was looking forward to meeting with Sabres management.'
